In this lesson, I’ll be showing you how to shade your designs. It’s not advanced, and pretty easy for beginners to understand.

(If you are JUST starting to design, start with lesson 1)

1. Get your design.


This is mine!
2. Add a new layer. (Make sure its above your base layer)
3. Use a darker color from the base color and draw lines on the dividers.

4. Use the filter “gaussian blur.” Adjust it to your liking. (You can change the opacity as well)

5. Clip the shading layer to the base layer. It should look somewhat like this:

6. Get a lighter version of your base color.
7. Add a new layer, and make line(s) in the middle of each section of the design.

8. Use gaussian blur again, adjust it, and change the opacity. Then, clip it to the base layer!

Here’s the finishing product:

It looks a lot less plain now, huh?

(Accidently made the shading too dark)

No not at all! This is a tutorial for beginners so i tried to make it as simple as possible
