Light Influence doesn't work on Beams in future

Please fix this I have a working volumetric light system and this would take it from a nice looking sunrays effect to an entire game overhaul

My game’s characters are all beams. I have a major issue with this because in future, the environment looks fantastic, but the characters aren’t influenced by lighting at all, so they look very out of place.

When i change it to other lighting styles, the environment looks… well…

Bump, any updates yet on this issue?

we need an update on that as soon as possible

I just came up with something, as roblox is just ignoring the thread.

Maybe you can simulate a forced brightness on it? Depending on the area the beam is in, you could change the brightness to look like it works.
And if a light turns off, you could have an event (or the function for the light itself) turn the brightness down.

Seems like this has been semi-fixed, this screenshot was taken with future lighting using beams. It’s not perfect but hey it’s better than nothing.

Still isn’t what we’ve been looking for (since its using hybrid model instead), but honestly still better than nothing.
At least they should be more usable now that lighting influence affects beams (although im not sure what was wrong with applying future lighting on a plane that is either semi-transparent or opaque)

This is not satisfactory. There’s no reason why beams doesn’t get influenced properly by light just like any other object in the Workspace in Future Lightning (beams uses hybrid model). I still look forward to the day where Roblox fully fix this issue.

BUMP AGAIN

This used to work before with future lighting. The code already exists for future support. This should be an easy fix…
