Looking Forward in 2020: This Year's Developer Roadmap

Hmm that bulk audio sounds pretty dope. (omg why does audio still cost robux when bots moderate them but game passes and other things are now free)

Audio isn’t moderated by bots. It has to go through 2 human reviewers.

These two looks the best and I can’t wait for them to come out:

I’ve been waiting for that feature ever since it was announced (as well with bone instances).

I say we start removing features and return to a 2010 style era.

No way. Why would you want that?

Nostalgia maybe? It would be nice to be able to go to the golden days while still having modern Roblox.

Could we get a few more details on what to expect from the Layered 3D Clothing? Right now I’m working on a superhero RPG and I’m trying to figure out if I should delay focusing on outfit customization until that technology is out. My questions are:

  • Will it be UGC enabled upon release?
  • Will we be able to apply the clothing onto custom mesh bodies with custom rigging?
  • Will it require a humanoid?
  • Will it require a texture or can we recolor it mid-game like a regular untextured mesh?

Thanks! I’m really excited by what I see here.

Maybe I’m blind but I didn’t see Video Frames anywhere on this list. Otherwise, I’m extremely excited for all these updates, especially custom materials and realistic characters! The future is ̶b̶r̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶ now!

So much hype. Finally Roblox’s engine will be able to compete with other engines (at least, almost). These seem extremely promising, and I’m interested to see how facial animation will work.

also whoops dunno why it’s a reply… sorry

I see that a develop page revamp isn’t in this list. Can we expect to see that this year?

It looks like an awesome roadmap!

I do have a question about this though:

So I am guessing this means some sort of age rating. If so I am curious, how will this affect the moderation system? If a game we are developing is clearly rated for maybe 13+, will the same kind of moderation setbacks a lot of us deal with during development still be present and would it be the fault of the player if they decide to play the game even when they are under the age of 13? Will this mean we can finally stop making some games for all age groups, and instead add some 13+ like content in our games that were not previously allowed because of the chance someone under 13 may join?

This seems like a very important feature for me. I always felt it was annoying how so many games on the front page are so kiddish because it works well. I have been wanting a proper age rating on games for years so we can expand to adding more things in our game.

@Sorcus

How exactly would this work?
Will it be available from R6 - Anthro or is it specifically Anthro?

Will this replace Shirts and Pants or be a completely new category?

How will this work ingame, as an accessory or as a MeshPart overlaying the Players Torso etc.
