For context, the ability to follow users by using the player list was a feature years ago, but was discontinued in 2020 due to “scalability constraints” according to an engineer (1). However, the engineer mentioned that there was a possibility of it returning in the future. Because it’s been 5 years and not much has been said regarding this feature since then, I’ve decided to file this feature request to remind Roblox how important and helpful it was. I feel like this feature has been forgotten, and it’s a great opportunity to promote interactions.
As a Roblox user, there isn’t a way for me to follow users in-game. Currently, users can only be followed by going to their profile on the website/app. However, what if the user leaves the game before I’m able to follow them, and I don’t remember their username. Reimplementing the follow feature to the player list would make it easier for users to form connections with others while they’re in a game.
If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my user experience by making it possible and more convenient to follow and connect with others in-game.
