Comparing: and , the super-generic place owner icon (I’m not even sure what it’s supposed to be) doesn’t really mean anything, versus the star which says “this user is important”. Players are mistaking users with this icon for creators of the game.
It would also be nice if when we hover over the leaderboard icons then a UI pops up for as long as the mouse is hovering above the image and then a small description regarding that icon appears for example for BC “Builders Club”, for the Roblox logo “Roblox Staff(or Admin)” etc.
One of the reasons why I like using custom playerlists is so I can give myself my own icon (see image below) and other players their own icon depending on their rank/role in the game. Like a staff member would get a crown, donators would get a money sign, Roblox Staff would get the new red tilted square icon, etc…
Game owners currently get a ‘ribbon’ icon that is unique to the owner of the game only; and while that’s mostly common knowledge, when other icons are introduced players automatically assume they helped develop said game in one way or another or earned it by doing something special and will ask how to get it themselves.
Unless they know about the Star program then they will know about the Star icon’s purpose, but many still dont. Some will assume its just a custom icon that the dev for that game chose to give to certain people, because something like that has been done before.
Also something to think about is if we use our own custom playerlists, will we be forced to add this star icon to our scripts for those who are a member of that Star group? I assume it will be optional, i’ll probably add it anyway but ill definitely not use a star. I already use the twitch icon for twitch streamers, that streamed my game in the past, so ill probably add a film/camera icon like others have suggested in this thread.
