You can write your topic however you want, but you need to answer these questions:
What do you want to achieve? Keep it simple and clear!
I want to know if it is possible to make a console player use the player.Chatted function if they select a text button.
What is the issue? Include screenshots / videos if possible!
Console doesn’t allow chatting, and therefore I’m unsure if they can access the player.Chatted function at all
What solutions have you tried so far? Did you look for solutions on the Developer Hub?
As this is just an idea of mine, I have not put it into action yet (and have no idea where to start).
After that, you should include more details if you have any. Try to make your topic as descriptive as possible, so that it’s easier for people to help you!
The reason I want all of this is so that when a player chats a command, my script executes (which I have already achieved on desktop and mobile).
Please do not ask people to write entire scripts or design entire systems for you. If you can’t answer the three questions above, you should probably pick a different category.
This is possible. The Roblox game Nuke Site actually has this implemented.
However, due to Xbox and PlayStation guidelines, Roblox is not allowed to let console players chat. This is also visible on games like Fortnite, also being unable to chat on Console.
What guidelines that PlayStation and Xbox have that stops Roblox from adding chat? Roblox said they had plans on implementing chat in the future, I don’t believe they would have said this if it conflicted with Xbox/playstation guidelines. You mentioned that Fortnite doesn’t have a chat, but games like cod, battlefield, among, etc all have chat on both platforms.
For Roblox I think you get in trouble if you implement chat. I’m not actually sure why so I’ll have to look into it, however there are other topics about this that ended with the OP finding out it was against TOS
