Making it clear about your post (whether it's in the right/wrong category)

Recently, I have had to tell many posters that their post is in the wrong category. This needs to be changed. People don’t read the category descriptions, which they should since they agreed to the rules, which can be hectic for people. What should be added is a plugin that detects whether or not your post is in the right category, based on keywords or sentences. I feel bad having to tell people that they are in the wrong category, however, it’s our best bet until something is changed, to which it winds up into a discussion about their mistake.

The thing is people forget that you can move your post location. If you see that something is in the wrong category, tell them(preferably in the DMs). This problem can be easily solved but most people just don’t know how to solve it.

Heck, since Im a new member and probably the majority of the forum users can’t access to website bugs category or any bug report in the Platform feedback category except this Forum feedback category so yeah, I have to keep informing them that Sorry If This is the wrong category but I have no choice and to tell them Please reply this post quickly before the staff Close and Unlist my post down for newer replies :frowning:

I also had this issue while ago but you cant judge new developers not knowing what the category is, or what category to select. If feel like what you said is unnecessary since Roblox Top Contributors/ Higher Ranks already change the posts. Some of them being that they don’t have a lot of categories like regulars do. Like reporting bugs for example.

I’ve tried, all I’ve been hit with with some users is attitude. Most are really kind and do it, however, some are just rude.

I am relatively new to the DevForums, but even after making lots of posts, I sometimes still have confusions about posting in the right category.
Most of the time it’s between the help and feedback category and the development discussion category.
I would say it can be hard sometimes, especially for newcomers.

But remember, mistakes help you learn! After a topic I created was moved, I had better knowledge of what to post in DevDiscussion and the Help and feedback category!

It’s very easy to read the category’s topic and see in similar posts. If you read the rules (which you HAD to), this isn’t a problem. Finally you really shouldn’t be commenting “This is in the wrong topic” because I have been able to successfully flag posts for this.

I first let them know it’s in the wrong category to allow them to fix it so that their post isn’t shot down. If the poster ignores or refuses, the flag takes care of it. It’s a learning curve for the poster.

You should just flag the post because by you saying “This is in the wrong topic” you can get flagged for that and devrel will usually accept these flags. This relates to spam. If you’ve ever gotten a Like Instead of Replying flag it’s similar to that. I’m not saying that I agree or disagree with these rules. I’m simply stating how it is.

Which is very understandable, I try to do this in PMs usually to keep it from the public.

As a person that do this all the time by accident sometimes a admin or someone helps me out but I do need to learn from my mistakes and I didn’t know it made people feel angry I hope people like me can learn but if it someone that keeps doing it I think they should be deleted

The user shouldn’t be deleted, however, allow them to learn

I didn’t mean to say delete that was my ipad I was trying to say if they give mad at you for trying to help there post should be taken down

sorry about thta
