Mario Sunshine Nozzles

Edit: Finished spray nozzle! It isn’t showcased in the video, but you can find it in the game!

I’m working on 4 nozzles similar to Super Mario Sunshine, and I’d like feedback on how they are at the moment. I only made three so far, and I have no idea what nozzle I should do for the fourth. I’ve decided to make a spray nozzle for the fourth nozzle.

I showcase them in this video:

Sorry for the poor video quality.

If you’d like to try them out for yourself, you can do so here. If you are gonna try them, here’s some information to know:

Testing Info

This info can be found on signs in the game, but I was too lazy to make them readable, so here’s this.

Switching Nozzles

To switch nozzles, click the arrows next to the circles at the buttom, or while hovering your mouse over it, scroll up and down.

Spray

Hold E to start spraying soda in front of you. If you hold down Q instead of E, you’ll lock yourself in place while spraying. You will be locked in place on mobile, no moving option, sorry.

Hover

While in midair, press the jump button to start hovering. Release to stop.

Rocket

Hold E to start fizzing up your soda and charge your launch. Release to fly upwards. The longer you fizz, the higher you go.

Jet

Hold E to start running fast with your soda, and release to stop. You unfortunately won’t be able to turn at all when using the jet, so keep this in mind. This is only because there’s not a lot of ways to slow down turning for Humanoids. This may also not be the case in the future.

If you also would like to suggest what the “objective” of the game should be, go ahead. I don’t want it to be an adventure game, but I do want it to be open world, like Jailbreak, so I’m having trouble coming up with ideas.

So the fourth nozzle would be like the first one but the difference could be to go up and down even with the water jet and even when you fall from a high place could fall and with the force of water make a push up

The only thing is, I want the nozzles to have different uses. If the fourth nozzle would be the same as the hover nozzle, but it goes up and down, then what would be the point of the hover nozzle?

Good idea, but the nozzles must be unique from each other to give them purpose.

The noise is too weird for a game like this I recomend looking at water type instead of that and it sounds like screen static but for the 4th one be like a rocket fist for an attack

Were you looking at the video? I think the video’s poor quality makes the sounds painful to hear.

And maybe the sounds are a little weird, but I can’t really find any better sounds, so I did my best.

Really brings out some childhood memories. Super Mario Sunshine was the first game I’ve ever played, coupled with a GameCube many many years ago. Still have both (but not my Wii, unfortunately, because I made a bad choice with it).

Other than the sound which is slightly annoying to listen to (it’s very grainy and high pitched), they’re pretty well done. The hover is true enough to the original nozzle and hopefully the rocket nozzle jump height is dependent on how long you charge for. As for the Turbo nozzle, you’ll want to allow for a bit of steering - it didn’t hold you in place, plus it’d be nice to influence the trajectory even for a bit where use of the turbo nozzle is critical for aiming around.

There isn’t really a fourth nozzle since you’ve done all of them so far, unless you count the default spray nozzle as one of them. That’s the only one that’s really missing.

Do you have any ideas on how to make turning slower? The reason I disable turning entierly is because I couldn’t make turning slower.

The memories hit me >:) I love the concept and it must’ve paid off after your hard work.

I love the effects that you’ve added, the particles especially, clean and great design. I also like the UI too. I do have one suggestion, you should make the ticket nozel have you go up a bit higher, similar to the one in sunshine so that if the player is a bit far, they have a little extra time and height to reach the platform.

Other than that, great work!
