Material Generator [Beta]

It’s like you read my mind! We are making this very change in an upcoming release.

Hello, really awesome update!

I have some prior experience with AI image generation this kind, and I was wondering if you guys were planning on introducing more of the generation features / settings available with this tech?

I am specifically referring to Negative Prompting, direct access to a CFG scale, or maybe even geration seed. Even if it’s under an “Advanced” toggleable dropdown at the bottom.

Also, are there going to be ways to manipulate the generated textures? For instance, rotating the texture (Even if its by 90Deg increments to maintain the square shape,) or in-painting to replace unwanted sections of the results?

Finally, about the auto-pbr, will there be a way to control the intensity of the pbr textures? The current method works well for a lot of the generated textures, yet other times it becomes more jarring and intense, especially for e.g. the normals on flat textures, where the brightness difference between the foreground and background is immense. I know you could just remove one of the pbr textures all together, but a slider to control the metalness for e.g. would be 100x more intuitive and would allow for great customizability, and would make it easier to tailor textures to fit a specific environment / scene.

Nice and all, but we still don’t have a feature to save these for manual editing using an external photo editor.

I feel like this exact same thing could be accomplished with a large curated library of textures.
Or even just collecting good results from this and saving them for future searches.
Sure you wouldn’t get quite so random results, but there would be more consistent quality, plus you could avoid the AI image generation ethics arguments and lawsuits that are emerging.

Is there any information as to how the model to generate these textures was trained?

I wonder who would own the copyright to anything created using this.

Can you add support for transparent backgrounds?

Is it possible to create any patterns that look like a cartoonish drawings?

I think this feature is really good and helpful as we don’t have to depend on decals or stuffs

Tysm roblox

For the next update kindly add feature where the ai could build us smt that ask them to build

This is incredibly awesome, i like it

This was not the case. It uploaded everything to my account without warning at all before reading this post. Now I have over a hundred images on my account that I had no idea I was uploading as I was just intending to test it, not publish anything to Studio fully. None of the images blow were images I expected to be uploaded to my account and with auto-moderation already doing enough to scare me into not uploading things, this scared me.

really interesting update, and unexpected too. one thing is that it really struggles with creating water.

If I’ve learned anything from this post, it’s that AI isn’t quite there yet and I probably don’t have to worry about AI code generators anytime soon lol. Thank God…

Yeah, i just filled my profile creations with those AI images. I would really like to get “remove” feature on everything. But roblox couldn’t ever really delete something from website or ur profile. And now i am stuck with bunch of stuff i just had fun with.

I would really like to be able to choose where to upload those images. Since im making a game in group, images i uploaded are published as my profile’s. So nobody can’t really see texture in my game.

Grayscale is good but tricky when it comes to lighter colors so I had to re-edit the color map. But beside that, it’s really stunning.

Here some examples:

Oh, and maybe add a download option so we can edit and then upload it if needed. (as in my case).

Weird question, how was the AI trained?

there are just some things which are not worth finding out

Well I actually am curious to see what it was trained on because I’m working on a personal project. (Recently got really interested into Roblox AI.)

Sorry if this has been addressed already;

Are all materials output at 1024x1024px? It would nice to choose the resolution of the material to keep memory usage low. Selecting from a list of standardized options would be fine (128x128, 256x256, 512x512, 1024x1024).

It would also be great if we could toggle off the generation of specific maps for PBR (Maybe I just want to generate the ColorMap, especially when generating flat/simple materials). I know I can just delete the other map IDs from the MaterialVariant, however it would save on time and Roblox server overhead if I could skip generating/uploading them entirely.

PSA:

Be careful when using this, When you confirm it, it will be automatically uploaded to your account, and the moderators may review it and warn, ban or terminate your account, If you didn’t believe me, this is the picture showing that the AI can authenticate your account and upload images to the account.
