for some reason it was working fine for me on other projects but today the materials aren’t actually showing thumbnails, don’t know why but its just not working
Same issue, its not generating for me
Hey uhm, I let the ai generate the wooden material for my flooring although after reopening studio the wooden flooring it generated wasn’t loading. While the other ai materials loaded but certain materials don’t.
I also noticed in the Material Generator i think it failed to input the maps since the Id it was showing is “rbxtemp://” and then followed up with 3-digit numbers.
Every material I generate seems to have these ugly seams at the edges, is there any way to fix this? It looks like the seams are only present in the normal maps, the textures themselves tile just fine.
Before PBR:
After PBR:
:(
And apparently when I find a material I actually like, and it fails to upload:
I can’t try again.
(To be clear, the failure was a one time thing, a brand new domain data.roblox.com
that I’ve never seen before was not yet allowed in my firewall. But it infuriates me that I cannot retry the upload. Sorry cool material, you will be missed.)
Thanks for reporting, we are able to reproduce the seams issue and investigating. Regarding the upload, what happens when you retry?
What do you mean retry?
There’s no option to retry.
When the upload fails, the material generator just assumes it succeeded. That is, the “save and apply variant” simply turns into “apply variant”, and I cannot even attempt to save anymore.
Oh, I see. Thanks for flagging this, we will fix both issue shortly.
Thanks for your patience! We’ve sorted out the issue with seams, and you shouldn’t be seeing these types of artifacts anymore.
Anyone else getting flat images or am I doing something wrong?
I’ve tried generating various materials but they all seem to come out as flat images with no normal or roughness map.
Hi - sorry for the delay, are you still seeing this issue?
Nothing to apologize for! It’s all good now, it was simply caused by making materials organic.
Interesting, you weren’t getting PBR generation for organic textures? It should work as well.
It’s either not working for me or it’s far too insignificant for me to see compared to normal ones. Non organic ones work just fine though.
I’m liking this material generator so far, but I am having a really difficult time generating any non-realistic materials. Were any stylized textures used to train this model? Are there particular prompts that I should use to get the kind of results that I’m looking for?
I’m looking for materials like these:
(I’ve already purchased a license for these, and you can find them here if you’re interested.)
For now, I’ll have to stick with buying asset packs with materials like these, but it does get pretty pricey and quick
You could just screenshot them to edit the images, but yeah I wish it would tell you it was moderated before you save it lol
Used it to create a few dozen materials now, but im having the constant issue of not being able to generate perfectly white/black solid color textures, its always some similar shade of blue or grey and when applied to an actual part it always looks funky.
I really like some of the defualt classic materials because they look so vibrant in the whites and blacks but I just cant seem to replicate that.
If anyone wants to test this for themselves, try generating something thats usually perfectly white, like snow or white ceramic.
What dataset is this material generator trained on? I believe AI can be used responsibly if it is only trained on data that the AI owner has the rights to and/or if the data it’s trained on is CC0-licensed or public-domain. Anything beyond that is really sketchy and I find the current lack of transparency on this aspect rather concerning.
I could see this feature being very useful especially for niche use-cases where there might not be a single pre-existing material that really works, but I want to know that this isn’t infringing on the rights of artists, material designers, and photographers before I would even consider seriously using it.
I have tried to use this feature to generate some materials for my projects and had good results, but can’t get the generated materials to save.
The material will always display and preview perfectly fine, however there is a major issue upon saving and applying, for some reason the MetalnessMap will always seemingly be blocked by Roblox moderation and the entire material variant will break and not be visible.
Is this intended behavior? Does the material need to await approval by the moderation team or is this an issue with the feature itself?
