Currently it is difficult to mass level of detail maps. This could be changed by my simple idea.
Model level of detail.
- Each model has RenderFidelity, Precise or Automatic
- Model rendering follows a hierarchy, with the top ancestor determining render fidelity
- A single building could be set to Automatic, and all parts would render as LOD, and some coloring
It would be so great if I could take a building model and flip a switch for the whole thing. Buildings generally would simplify to a simple block structure far away. I have seen fortnite do this automatically with all objects.
If Roblox added this in, large maps would be easier to manage overnight.
