Muzzle Flashes - Particles or 3D Part

Not Really help with making the Muzzle Flash but I wanted to ask the experienced weapon animators out there; Which is better for a Muzzle flash?

I am currently using ParticleEmitters but I am wondering if making a 3d model in blender like with attack effects is worth a try.

Phantom Forces uses 3D, which makes it look a tad cartoonish. Arsenal uses particles, which makes it look close to realistic. So I guess go for both

That makes sense. So depending on how it’s done if mainly for style than effiecenty.
