My animations don't play when using Custom Skinned Mesh?

You can write your topic however you want, but you need to answer these questions:

  1. What do you want to achieve? Keep it simple and clear!
I want to use my own custom Skinned Mesh for something I’m experimenting on. Pardon if I say something noobish/dumb; I’m inexperienced with Skinned Mesh and I’m a little sleep-deprived. I’m trying to learn the process and this is the guide model on what Roblox told me it should look like on a dev forum article: https://gyazo.com/bcce38abf10b81aa0c1b625a51523109
  2. What is the issue? Include screenshots / videos if possible!
When I Import my finished model using Roblox’s Avatar Importer(Custom), for some reason the RootPart of my model appears all the way in the bottom and I have no idea how to change the position.

The animations don’t even play when I’m testing and press play but the bones do move when I use the Animation Editor plugin.

  3. What solutions have you tried so far? Did you look for solutions on the Developer Hub?
well, I tried reading on the Developer Hub but it kept sending me back to that Article “Skinned Meshparts are Live!” and I followed the instructions:

    S1 : R15 compatible, 1 MeshPart.
Make sure you have the standard 15 joints named as per R15, except ‘HumanoidRootNode’ should be named ‘HumandoidRootPart’. Skin these to a single mesh. Use the ‘Custom’ import setting. This will create a Model that can be used to play current catalog R15 animations but on a single mesh.

I named all of the bones accordingly to what it would be named for R15 joints on blender(Head, UpperTorso, LowerTorso, LeftUpperArm, LeftLowerArm, LeftHand, RightUpperArm, etc…). I also tried creating another Bone named HumanoidRootPart and made it parent to the LowerTorso Bone but it didn’t work.

Again, apologies if I’m doing something obviously wrong. Thanks in advance

After that, you should include more details if you have any. Try to make your topic as descriptive as possible, so that it’s easier for people to help you!

Hey! This post seems to be kinda dead and that makes me sad since I too want to know how to make custom skinned meshes play cool animations and specially how to make them compatible with R15.

Some time ago a cool guy made an open-source of a fully R15 compatible rig and it really works so well, maybe try asking him? Here’s his post:
