I actually managed to put all of my skills together with bevels and loop cuts and create this. It’s supposed to be a TV but I get it if you think it’s a PC.
Don’t mind all that stuff, I took that photo on my phone
I think this is a pretty decent model. It does look like a PC a little bit.
Tbh, I am still a beginner in Blender, so I can’t really give you solid advice, but maybe you can try to apply some materials and maybe you can inset a face for the screen depth. But it is a good model.
So you started using blender 2 years ago but just came into actual modelling like a day ago? I think that makes more sense as 2 years ago you probably downloaded blender and was hyped and all and now you are again hyped and all.
It looks like a PC monitor, yes. Due to camera quality, I can’t really tell if other stuff is there. One thing I can tell is perhaps make the proportions better. Literally model it form an image reference. Either switch your tab every time or literally import the image. Unless you are rusty, for 2 years use case this is iffy buttttt I am sure by putting time and effort it will refine your modelling,
Honestly, I will just say you are a modeller cus with enough practice, you can make anything look better and be more optimized than using roblox’s stuff. I only use roblox to build maps. For smaller specific models, I hate how I have to use these lousy blocks. I am not attuned to it. I started with Blender, and most probs will stick to it.
This post reminds me about the fact that Im a little IDIOT, a little NOOB and I use ROBLOX studio for modelling and not blender since Im too lazy and it’s hard to learn the freaking controls. I mean, my models are decent. Like this screenshot or video that I used of reporting a scaling issue with my gun shop model: robloxapp-20231221-1608482.wmv (646.0 KB)
Quick clip to add on to my decent modelling without blender: robloxapp-20231223-1233285.wmv (8.0 MB)
(ALPHABET MODEL IS NOT MINE, I JUST HAVE IT SAVED IN MY INVENTORY INCASE I NEED TO MAKE A SIGN)
Hm yeah I’ll keep this in mind the next time I try to make something like this
Yeah probably. I just like really constructive criticism even if it’s an insult. Obviously this has nothing to do with the forum rules though.
(I’m sure they were joking anyways)
Nothing else was really there except for the TV. Yeah I guess I could call myself one but probably not now or I’d make a fool outta myself.
Did you color it using Vertex Paint mode? But yeah I also barely open Blender. I usually like to sketch something on paper and use that to make a model.
Just cuz you use Roblox’s modeling system doesn’t mean you’re a noob. It’s kinda hard to grasp the controls but it’s really just remembering a lot of shortcuts imo.
And I thought I was the only one with an iPhone 11
But on the topic of if you’re a modeler or not, it depends who’s seeing it. Some people have very high expectations, while some have extremely low. That model you’ve made could be better, but don’t sweat it, everyone doesn’t do that great on their first model. In fact, I haven’t seen a single person who hasn’t made a mistake on their first model.
So no, you’re not a modeler yet. But hey, it’s better than my first blender model and I have high hopes for you!
Just a warning for you; Windows 7 and Windows 8 have stopped getting anti-virus updates meaning any new viruses can affect your computer and won’t be patched. You may want to update to Windows 10.
(Don’t get 11, it locks all your files)
As for the model, 1.5 / 10.
Basic geometry, the beveled corners don’t really make it resemble any kind of monitor / TV and there is no inset screen or buttons or ANYTHING for that matter.
And then considering that its your 50th-60th model yeah that’s pretty bad, especially considering that these were some of my first models:
When modelling something such as a monitor, gather as much reference of a specific monitor as you can.
Use I to inset faces and E to extrude them, this allows you to easily create the inset screen.
When in the modelling tab in blender, you can add different shapes to the same model, so you can easily add (for example) circular buttons / lights on a cube.
You can start off with flat color textures, and I highly recommend use of Roughness and Metalness maps. Photopea works well for basic texture creation, just make a 1080x1080 image and go off that.
