A game that I’m developing currently does use an asset with that purpose, but I’m going to replace it with a my own model. Using your own models also allows for your game to have its own feel, even if it’s realistic. Players also won’t be seeing the models and saying “Oh look I remember that model from another game!”. Use the models as placeholders, and work on making your own take on them.

Terrain is like parts, it’s a built-in customizable asset that helps improve the look of your game if done right. The free models are pre-made and less customizable.
