—That’s a really good point.
Yeah well, I’m just commenting on that post. I mean does a painter have to have his own paint factory and brew up his own paint before he can be a real artist? Geesh
It’s literally using a starter place.
My problem is that it seems like he ONLY used endorsed models.
-------I used the new asset pack
Will future maps have more models you made? Also, again, were the arms and gun modeled by you?
Only 3k players? Do you only give front page games good reviews? No pleasing you eh.
You are really taking what I said out of proportion, no where did I say nor even say anything that could refer to what you just said. Nor did I say that not knowing a specific part about developing does not make you a developer, I said quite the contrary and congratulated him on his good looking game. What you are referring to is when I said that someone who downloads someone else’s models is not a modeller and someone who prints someone else’s art is not an artist and those are solid points in my opinion, ask yourself this, if someone were to download your game and upload it only to get more visits; are they the rightful developer? No they are not, as I said it is the making of an asset, a map or a painting that rightfully makes you a modeller, builder or painter.
Again, there is no reason to recreate something that already exists
No, I was responding this this part circled in red here:
I appreciated all your constructive criticisms though.
I literally only used the new asset pack for leaves and trees
I don’t care if it’s a front page game. I play some not front page games: Hellreaver and VH3!
But, compared to them and their lower counts, Growing Up took less effort and is on the path of dying, and has been around longer, and isn’t in beta.
I believe I used ‘developer’ there to specify a wider demographic of people not to criticize @superboy_0627 there was no intent of that in anyway but I accept if it came off wrong in your reading of it.
literally just a thin rectangle with a square on top
Yes there is, if you want to create a unique game that doesn’t look like a lot of other games you would seriously consider making your own assets.
This game is just a forest so basically everything around is a free model, the parts like the train and the items littered around don’t even fit in with the “realistic” environment that you have tried to create.
Take a nature pack like the nature pack from ThatDevEthan for example, because it is so popular you will get people that start to notice the same assets being used from this pack and your game WILL be judged for its use of free models.
Again, a moderate use of free models is fine. But when your entire game is a free model that is just badly optimised, I wouldn’t say that’s fine.
I don’t see why you’re explaining to me how the asset looks without textures?
So, its been on the path of dying for 4 years and has 3k players right now and its not a good example of a successful game using free models? Do you even make any games?
your saying I shouldn’t use a thin rectangle with a square on top because it’s not made by me
lol, you have just removed the texture which was made by the creator of the leaves. So you make no sense
