Mysterious IP Violation

Recently, my account was terminated for “unauthorized use of intellectual property rights.” However, when I contacted Roblox for clarification, they refused to provide details on which intellectual property I allegedly violated. Strangely, none of my games or UGC items have been taken down, leaving me completely confused and shocked by the termination.

Below, I’ve included my email conversations with Roblox, where they repeatedly refused to disclose which of my creations led to this decision.

I also didn’t receive a email for the Ip violation I just woke up and was mysteriously terminated.

It would be awesome if someone could help me figure out why they refuse to tell me.

You should be contact appeals; the copyright agent contact may not have access to the specific item you were moderated for.

I’ve reached out to appeals i’m just waiting for a response I’ll make sure to update yall

Definitely a weird situation though as none of my assets were taken down.

Something about this situation smells a bit fishy.

You don’t just TERMINATE someone without telling them why or what caused it.
I wonder what rule or law states that they cannot tell what IP you mysteriously “violated”.

While waiting, just check anything you have, music, decals, models, any asset just in case.

Does any of your games allow users to use user-generated content or custom assets?
Non-zero chance that a player used an asset in the experience and then self-reported or something, I know this was a possible exploit a while back used by trolls to get games or accounts banned.

Still, I have not seen something like this before.
Aren’t they required to tell you what you did if you genuinely don’t know?

If this is a false copyright strike, you can in fact counter-sue whoever did it.
Do they tell who did it? Are they holding that information?

I also thought Roblox was required to inform me of the specific IP I had violated. I’ve already checked all my popular games and UGCs, and they’re still up, which makes this even more confusing. On top of that, my account was terminated despite this being only my second strike—one that I highly doubt is even valid. At this point, I’ll just wait for a response from Roblox Support, as the copyright agent may not be authorized to disclose which IP I allegedly infringed upon.

I didn’t recieve a email for this infringement or any notice just a termination.

Bizarre and also quite unacceptable, downright disrespectful even.
I hope the situation gets solved for you soon, I suppose waiting is all we can do for now.

Try contacting the Roblox DevForum moderators and explain your situation.
https://devforum.roblox.com/g/moderators

I have no idea how I would even get in touch with one of them. Do they have public emails or some other way to contact them?

Click on the moderators profile and the button to send a private message will appear.

Thanks i’ll try talking to one of them.

A little update with what’s going on the appeal moderation team finally gave a response but they are saying I was banned for “Cheating and Exploits” although i’ve never exploited before?

My moderation note talks about intellectual ip infringement but the appeals team is giving me a completely different reason.

This is genuinely so frustrating being terminated and not even being given a exact reason for the termination.

does roblox not know how to spell “unauthorized”?

in any case I recommend you cut your losses and go to another platform, we as developers take the time to make content for roblox and this happens to some, its not fair to you or anyone else.

“unauthorised” is an acceptable British spelling of the word, but it seems Roblox prefers the -zed variants instead.

The rest of the moderator note just looks very unprofessionally worded.

If this was an actual ban, I’m concerned for the Roblox moderation.

It’s just a guess but im guessing both is correct

You can tell it’s wrote by a human that way. Certain moderators use a custom moderator note instead of using the default template one

Like DSA Mods use custom ones more often and it’s definitely not AI

This is an actual ban note which is ridiculous.

roblox is an american company tho

I doubt their mods are all located in america

Aren’t they like outsourced

couldnt even tell that a human wrote that, i thought it was ai slop or copy and pasting until I checked the grammar

What i know is that DSA Mods often like to use custom moderator notes instead of templates and that creates “Rare Moderator Notes”

I saw alot like that before
