Introduction to the training

  • Welcome to your training for a waiter position at Nando’s Chicken.
  • This training will be divided into 5 segments. These are as follows:
  • Section A: Greeting & Seating
  • Section B: Taking Orders & Operating POS
  • Section C: Making Drinks
  • Section D: Placing & Removing Food
  • Section E: Administration
  • In order to pass today’s training, you must complete 3 out of 4 demonstrations correctly.

Section A: Greeting & Seating

  • This first section covers the process of greeting & seating customers.

  • We recommend you take some form of notes if you wish to make the section easier to remember.

  • As a Waiter at Nando’s, you’re tasked with greeting, seating and serving customers.

  • Remember, you are their first impression, be sure to remain respectful, polite & helpful at all times.

  • Once the customer enters the queue, press CTRL Q to send a welcome message.

  • This will introduce yourself and ask the customer how many people are in their party.

  • Once they have answered the question, press CTRL E to ask them where they would like to sit.

  • Finally, once they have answered, hover your mouse over the podium in front & select their username then click ‘Serve Customer’. This will let them into the restaurant

  • Press CTRL Z on your keyboard which will ask the customer to follow you.

  • Pick up a menu from the side of the podium before taking the customer to their seat. Do this by clicking the menus here.

  • Take the customer(s) to a vacant seat which fits the party size and location request.

  • Once they are seated, hand the customer the menu(s) you picked up beforehand & hold E when the prompt pops up.

  • You can press CTRL M to remind them to take their time & of the order limit.

  • We suggest you note down what they order before you enter it onto the POS.

  • Do you have any questions before we move on?

Section A: Demonstration

  • You will now demonstrate this process one at a time. Please line up ready to serve me.

Test the trainees on what was just taught one at a time. If they do it correctly, they have passed this section. They should only pass if they can carry out the steps in reasonable time & with only a few errors.

Section B: Taking Orders & Operating POS

  • This section will go over how to take orders and operate the POS.

  • We recommend you take some form of notes if you wish to make the section easier to remember.

  • When customers are ordering, there is a limit in place.

  • We have this to prevent overloading the Kitchen or tables with food/orders.

  • The order limit is currently 5 items per order per person. (Drinks not included)

  • If someone goes over the limit, kindly state that it goes above the order limit and ask if they can adjust the order.

  • Please ask what spice they would like when ordering: Chicken meals and Burgers/wraps.

  • The POS is used to create and send food orders to the kitchen.

  • Once you have noted the customer’s order, locate one of the registers which are dotted around the restaurant and hover your mouse over it to open the GUI.

  • Click on the section that has the item of food they ordered and press the food item they ordered.

  • Once you have added all the items that the customer ordered, press ‘Complete Order’ on the bottom right of the screen and then enter the table number & customer name.

  • Give the receipt to the customer who ordered the food once it is printed.

  • Do you have any questions before we move on?

Section D: Placing & Removing food

  • In this section, we will go over how to collect, place and remove plates.

  • We recommend you take some form of notes if you wish to make the section easier to remember.

  • Once the Kitchen has completed order, walk to the counter and hold down E to pick up the food.

  • A coloured dot will appear above the table, that indicates where the customers table is.

  • If this does not appear, the table number was entered slightly incorrectly. For example: “1” rather than “01”.

  • Once you have arrived at the table, find an empty space on the table and left click to place the food down.

  • To move or clear the plates/food on the table, walk up to the plate and hold down E.

  • Once the GUI appears, you can select your option to move it or clear it off the table. You can also cancel the action by pressing cancel below the two options.

  • Before clearing the table, ask the customer if they have finished the course of the meal.

  • Once cleared, ask them if they would like to order anything else.

  • Do you have any questions before we move on?

Section E: Administration

  • In the final section of the training, we will go over the admin side of the job. Please listen carefully as these are rules that must be followed at all times.

  • When you wish to go AFK, head to the room where you spawned (the break room). Do not go AFK in other areas or you will be teleported here and warned if you continuously do so.

  • In the break room, there are two boards which show the actions made by staff. Executives check these boards regularly and will show any spam orders or abuse of the systems.

  • Please only do the job you were trained for. If you are caught doing other roles you may face disciplinary action.

  • You are to remain respectful, polite and honest when interacting with staff, customers and executives, even if people are being rude to you. Issue 3 warnings before calling an executive.

  • Do you have any questions before we move on?
