I’ve already expressed my thought, it’s unlikely it’ll happen any time soon. Though, still find it funny how on a thread about Apple Silicon support a few comments are just asking for a Linux port. Maybe it’ll happen if Linux on the Desktop’s market share increases?
Update from Roblox for those still wondering why your client isn’t yet updated to the new ARM build.
this is great news! but apparently some people even updating are still in the intel version, now you just need to talk about the south american roblox servers that were promised since RDC 21
Still being kicked back to the Intel builds no matter how I try to get native copies of the client and studio?
Checked in system report and it says RobloxStudio’s application kind is iOS. Would this say Apple Silicon for the build that supports it?
Is this the correct article? Not seeing anything there that allows me to force download the latest build
Does this mean Roblox Studio is finally coming to mobile devices? No.
As far as I’m aware, iOS does not have Rosetta. Therefore, this application is native or uses a compatibility virtualization layer, but not emulation, since the CPUs are the same architecture. Correct me if I’m wrong though.
If anyone is getting the super annoying Autosave failure popup change your Autosave directory to ~/Documents/Roblox/AutoSaves. Looks like the Autosave directory default was changed to ~/ROBLOX/AutoSaves… possibly done by mistake?
Not sure if you are asking a new question or responding to mine. I was just wondering how you would actually check if Studio on macOS is running on the Apple silicon support or not.
If you can melt chocolate on your MacBook, then it’s intel. Otherwise, it’s a native application.
To find out which version you’re running do “Get Info” on the Roblox.app in the Applications folder. Mine says “Kind: Application (Intel)”
On RobloxStudio.app mine says “Kind: Application (Apple Silicon)”
just open Activity Monitor, locate the application you wish to check, and look at the Kind category. If it says Apple, its native.
After using the Apple Silicon native builds of Roblox and Roblox Studio for the past two weeks, I’ve noticed that my studio performance and stability has significantly declined. Has anyone else had this experience?
Here’s what I said on twitter:
Now that the hype’s died down, I have to admit… the Apple Silicon native version of Roblox Studio has actually decreased in both performance and stability for me, compared to the Rosetta emulation. It’s especially obvious during multiple client testing, lot more framey.
I’ve also been getting issues where publishing fails like 30% of the time, not sure if this related to Apple Silicon although it started recently. I’ve also had studio crash on me a select few times, which I don’t remember happening on the Intel app.
I’m unable to download BOTH Roblox and Studio on my Mac Mini 2020. It continues to stay on Configuring Roblox… and doesn’t change. I’m unable to play nor work. Would love to have this issue fixed asap.
Here are my specs:
I’ve been getting downgraded to the intel versions of the client and studio recently. When will the Apple Silicon version be completely rolled out?
One thing to check is in Activity Monitor, sort in the CPU tab by “Kind” - you might actually be using the Intel build still. The Intel builds function exactly like how you’re describing.
Roblox also hasn’t released a new version for Apple Silicon (as of today - breaking my script above) - the last version was released on 7/30, so it appears they have stopped pushing out Apple Silicon builds (at least, for now it seems?).
Edit: the script is now fixed.
My Intel Roblox.app (Intel) tried to upgrade yesterday, said it failed, then Roblox started normally.
This morning when I tried to start it, it said it failed, put a slash mark over the icon in the dock, wouldn’t start, and the Roblox.app was now 40 MB. I dragged it to the trash, downloaded the installer, reinstalled it, and it’s still the Intel version and the same version number as before (and it’s 263 MB), but it works.
Strange.
I am indeed using Apple Silicon, not the Intel build.
I still have this issue, and Roblox Support has been no help so far. It would be great to have someone over on Discord or Guilded a staff or someone so that we can work Live together and come up with a solution for this. I’m unable to work or play. This is happening on my other MacBook as well. It has nothing to do with Wifi, I’ve switched to my own Hotspot and the issue still seems to be happening.
Weird, turning on VPN fixed it. But I need to have VPN on at all times else the same situation happens all over again. I’m in Canada, it shouldn’t be blocked.
Hey there! Does this also happen when trying to download/install the Roblox player app or just Studio? Am I understanding the issue correctly that when you’re on VPN you can’t update/download/install?
