I expect to not be frightened with a notification telling me I have 1,797 new messages, only to find out that there is nothing there. I can only assume this is how many times ROBLOX has messaged me about data-erasure requests. Every time I was sent a message about it, I just archived it, but today, out of nowhere, I received 2,000 non-existent messages. I don’t know what caused this, really. I can only assume it’s a website bug.
Actually I think this might be a different bug. Roblox is saying I have 22 messages but I cant find them anywhere. I only have 1 message in my archive.
Hey everyone, thank you for reporting this!
We believe that this was a bug with unread messages that had otherwise been archived being included in users’ unread messages counters. A fix is being worked on and should be live soon! Will update in this thread once we’ve verified
Will that also be the case on the “news” tab, which still notifies, us even if we have read it?
It has always gone away when roblox removes the messages later.
We can confirm the fix works as intended, but unfortunately it may take time for some users’ message counters to readjust. To be transparent, there’s a certain % chance that this value will hard update whenever the webpage is loaded, so for some users this update may come earlier than others. Apologies for the inconvenience and we will continue to monitor this!
Hi Master3395,
We can now confirm that the issue should be fixed for all affected users. Thank you for your patience, and please feel free to follow up if you notice any discrepancies!
