Negative reflectance on humanoid parts

As a Roblox developer, it is currently impossible to change the negative reflectance of parts within a humanoid model. To replicate, do the following:

-Attempt to change the reflectance of players body part to a negative number.
-Remove the humanoid to see the affect take place.

If Roblox is able to address this, we would be able to create unique features and appearances for players characters and even non player characters.

Here is a video replicating the above statement.

Thank you for considering this feature!

While negative reflectance is pretty cool I highly doubt this will become a feature and negative reflectance will probably be gone in the future. You’re pretty much using a bug to get this behavior and it’s kind of amazing this isn’t simply clamped already.

Is this for something that is only used in Studio? If no, then it shouldn’t be in Studio Features! Try #platform-feedback:engine-features

Thanks for the reminder! I’ve moved this to #platform-feedback:engine-features!

I just figured if the “bug” exists for normal parts, I could do a lot with players parts as well. If they remove it in the future then I’m content with that. Thank you for the insight!

Personally, I think they should leave reflectance unclamped.

It’s a cool effect with no performance impact.

It is more of a byproduct of the way cubemap reflection is handled and I doubt it will ever go away as it doesn’t have any game breaking effect.
