I think I prefer the term “scripting”/“scripter” for now because it would be more consistent with existing categories on the developer forum, and it is the term I see the most here opposed to “programming”.
Luckily no notification, but I found it appear here:
I would like the option to turn notifications on for it, I don’t actually mind mentions like that providing they don’t get abused too much, and it would mean that those who want to devote their time to helping those who decide to mention the group can.
EDIT: Thinking about it though, it’s probably not possible as an option due to Discourse’s permission system.
Top contrib role is mentionable with notifications on.
Edit: NVM I got the wrong point
I guess it could be an opt in thing where you allow people to mention your group if you want to join it.
Yeah, I’m aware of where the term comes from. I just don’t understand why someone would want to call themselves a scripter when programmer sound more professional.
That moment when you consider yourself to be equally as much a scripter as a builder as a graphic designer.
To balance out by bragging, I’m less than stellar at each of the three individually.
Artist is a very broad term, can it be split up into renderer, vector artist, illustrator, typographist, as a few examples.
Scripter/Programmer is also very broad and I think this is fine, otherwise we end up with way too many groups which voids the purpose.
I feel like when someone wants more info on you, that’s what your blurb is good for. Anything is technically too vague outside a personal portfolio.
I share the same tag next to my name as people who are capable of far more than I am when it comes to programming. There’s no way to really make these tags not vague.
Hey, thanks for hotlinking them! Didn’t know there groups … I must live under a rock.
