New Improvements to the Creator Marketplace

Do you regularly upload more than 10 public toolbox items of every category every month? If not you most likely won’t have to ever worry about these limits.

You can still upload unlimited private items of various categories.

I’m a UI Designer. I upload a TON of decals for my UI.

you can still upload tons of decals for your UI, the limit is only on public decals.

The new filter for sound effects and music is just what I have been waiting for! Previously, it was very difficult to find sound effects since they were all muddled together with music with random names similar to a sound effect you wanted. I am so happy that we have this now as it will greatly improve my workflow and make inserting quality sound effects so much faster!

I also really love seeing Roblox give more special permissions for ID-verified users. This really is nice as it still allows for rules to be put in place that helps keep the site full of quality content while also helping real developers by increasing those limits.

I do have a question about the limits though. If I were to upload something to Robox as a model and have it set to private, would that count to the limit? What about if I then set something to public after uploading it or change an already public model or asset to private?

Ok this is all good until I saw the monthly submission… are you serious… sure you can do ID verification and all that… what about those of us that refuse to do that, for personal reasons. This to me is a stupid change, while yes I see why, it hurts everyone else… surely there is some other way this can be done…

That said it is very annoying when looking through the toolbox for a specific thing or even a skybox only to find a lot of low quality or just duplicates of stuff done not even related to your search but they add tags to the model so it appears. That I am looking forward to being for the most part gone.

Edit: I hope what people are saying is true… and it is only to public stuff. And if that is the case why can’t the same apply to audio…

Too lazy to scroll through 200+ replies, but my take on this age verification bs is still reasonable.

Have you read the Roblox Biometric Data Policy? In all honesty, it is pretty fair and reasonable. It even states that “Our service provider, Veriff, deletes your Biometric Data within 90 days after collection, unless required by law (such as a warrant or subpoena) to keep your Biometric Data for a longer period.”
It really does seem like Roblox cares about biometric privacy and wants us to feel comfortable with this. Don’t get me wrong, I am totally for privacy rights online. However, this really does seem 100% fair and transparent with what they are doing with your information. Plus, Veriff’s Privacy Policy also states that they will never sell your data. It seems that both are being very transparent here. I would highly suggest reading the Biometric Data Policy and Veriff’s Privacy Policy!

Could you make the audio upload limit into an audio publish limit, so that developers can make as many sounds as they need? Would be very useful for FPS devs.

Yeah I definitely agree with you, the hierarchy in the model viewer thing should also have properties and script window and stuff.

Also what do you mean by

??

Was always annoyed by how the toolbox displayed audios with the same large default icons taking up 3/4 of the space. Glad to see it get compacted along with the addition of easier browsing. :+1:

Would be nice though if we can hide/close the “Find tracks from Monstercat” since I personally find that it takes up quite the chunk of space.

spam bots, and bots, and alts can’t verify their id

Perfect! This is such a great thing to hear, especially because of the fact that the ui etc looks pretty great. Also, it used to be kinda tricky to find all of your assets in the toolbox, this is going to make it so much easier. Thank you Roblox.

No, it doesn’t really affect me, but the fact that it’s locked behind ID verification makes this update bad for me. Pretty stupid reasoning I know, but I seriously don’t want them just entirely relying on ID verification to trust users because half of developers don’t want to send their ID over to roblox or veriff just to unlock essential development features.

Doesn’t show if there are scripts in skyboxes…

to fix the bot problem i suggest adding a captcha that you need to do every time you upload a asset a lot of people will find it annoying but it will surely fix the problem with the bots than just having limits to everyone

I thought that too, then I read the whole thing and found out they are looking for other ways to give more uploads without ID.

Oh ok just realised that was a thing. Still is only ID verification for now though.

I don’t mind this as long as:

Audio permissions do not start applying to other asset types, which would be infuriating to deal with
Model, Decal, Mesh, and Plugin uploads do not start getting rate-limited for off-sale assets or group assets.

Models are one of the most spammed and abused types of assets. Nearly every popular search term is infested with models of Minecraft trees littered with backdoor scripts.
Meshes are hard to review because you basically have to look at it from every angle to make sure there isn’t some hidden inappropriate meaning to it.
I do think images should be more than 10, but 200 is a bit much. Maybe 50
I see no reason to need to publish more than 1 or 2 plugins a month, that seems excessive

Keep in mind, this is all if you want it to be PUBLIC. Private assets aren’t affected by this.

Wait, wait, wait, how does this fix anything?
Let me explain

…via bots, via alternative accounts. Adding a limit for 10 models per account per month won’t even impede these “malicious models” in the slightest, since the people already uploading viruses and whatnot are very likely already using alternative accounts to upload.

We seem to be getting closer almost every day to publishing games or even using Studio to being locked behind an ID verification wall

Here’s my problem with ID Verification, is that if Roblox/Veriff is deleting biometric data after 90 days, then shouldn’t a new account be able to ID Verify with an already verified ID since it was erased after 90 days? Yet somehow miraculously they are still able to detect when another account tries to verify with the same ID. If they truly are erasing data, then how are they still able to detect accounts trying to use IDs with matching data?

They would never rate limit those off sale assets. They can never clog the toolbox.
