New In-Game Topbar

I made a post earlier but i have more criticism.

The lack of a background for the topbar makes it not match with the leaderboard. You can’t just change the standard for the game and make the elements not match. I’d like to see a rounded border around the roblox and chat icon (as a background). That would make it match the leaderboard.

Actually it still is. If you don’t want it though, you can easily set IgnoreGuiInset to true on your ScreenGuis

No I’m talking about the way it colors in the entire top 36 pixels of the screen despite using almost none of it. You can of course “fix” this currently by just setting its transparency to 1 and disabling the gui inset, but most games didn’t bother. I hated seeing it constantly hog space in my peripheral vision in other people’s games more than anything.
It’d be even better if they fixed this up so it doesn’t sink input for the entire top as well.

To be honest, I’ve never heard someone being bothered by this. However, now, you’re going to have complete empty space in the top until games either fill it in with their own background, or rework some aspects of their GUIs to use that space effectively.

Luckily, they are being given time to do that.

Lots of scripts depend on the 36 pixel inset. Even those smart enough to use GuiService expect the entire top row to be taken up, not just sections of it.

Well, yes, but you‘d still have the user’s name and age info in the top-right which you have to work around. It looks like this will be a cleaner solution.

Hello TheGamer101
What i can say is that i love that design!

Do you have any good examples of an existing system breaking down because the middle portion of the topbar no longer sinks input?

I meant GUIs, sorry.

This looks interesting. Very sleek, not annoying, and very user friendly!

I like it a lot except for one thing, I’m not a fan of the Roblox icon as the button for the settings. I think it should be similar to the current one.

Beautiful top bar I really like this new minimal style as it allows for more content to appear on the screen

Although this update is revolved around aesthetical changes, its still pretty neat.
It gives a little more room to view the surrounding area of a game, which I like.

this change can greatly help game devs utilize all available space at the top of the screen! I also like how it’s just one step closer to making roblox a very mature, modern platform for kids, teens, and adults alike! Thank you, roblox.

Looks brilliant. Far better than the awful previous design that I hated for years.

Will there be any way to disable the game context menu? While I think it is a great idea, my game doesn’t use any of its features and it obstructs my UI. I would rather keep the chat icon in the top bar though.

Does the topbar area sink input like before? Can I put my own buttons etc in there?

I’m really happy that the age indicator is gone. I always thought that was an extremely bizarre thing to include in a UI — I for one can remember my own age.

less is more, feels like my screen is bigger, i like.

According to the images provided, I’m glad that the age indicator text has been removed on the top right of the screen. In that way I can implement my custom player list without disabling both chat and player list.

This is really awesome! Now I don’t need to deal with Topbar’s transparency.
