Hey developers, remember that rule where you only could apply for developer forum when you’re only 13+, well I believe some people here can easily when they are below 13< & we should open back applications & close the “accept everyone” thingy, because people who are new ask questions which you can easily find on google.
They also post irrelevant topics.
And ask questions that you can find on google.
What do you guys think?
I don’t think applications should open back up. For reasons that Lily_S described in the ‘Update to Developer Forum Entry Process’
The application process failed to meet developer needs - instead, it discouraged participation and led to unfortunate bottlenecks and long wait times.
The automated system was something I think was needed. Surely, it’s not perfect right now. But is anything ever perfect when it first releases?? Now of course, the automated system has let a large amount of people in, some who probably very likely wouldn’t have been accepted via the application process.
Now the application process was not the best either. I know someone who applied for the forums at the same time I did. She’s known for creating this game and such. Her’s was rejected, while mine was accepted. I don’t think there is something right there.
TL;DR
Application process shouldn’t come back because of the bottlenecks it had. Instead, we should give feedback to the LTCs and DevRel on what to change about the automated process and improve it!
Edit: Concerning the irrelevant topics. Flag them, the LTCs have been quite quick on them.
ROBLOX motive is to make it easier for everyone to start developing games and learning how to build or script, I like the “accept everyone”… I do agree they may ask simple questions, but it’s apart of learning. It may be simple to people who are experienced but to others it’s not. Just because you can find it on google, doesn’t necessarily mean that their question wasn’t worth the time.
As for the irrelevant topics, maybe DevForum can implement some sort of new system with forum moderators of active forum members,etc.
@Wingz_P Even though there is a long wait, so what? I was accepted from the application process, & “new members” from the new process, can easily scam people just because they got the rank new member.
There are several threads on this topic in the Inception Forum category – please pick an existing one to discuss on. No point redoing this discussion several times.
The correct response to seeing a 13- user is to bring that up with the Developer Engagement Team so that they can revoke the user’s access to the forum.
