New randomizer game: Weapon Mayhem

So I’ve been working solo on this game for 7 months now, putting in a lot of hours into it.
By some dumb determination, I haven’t abandoned this game yet, like my hundreds of other ‘games’.

Lots of progress since the last post:

Over 35 randomized items:

-Melees, projectiles, miscs, and building items

-Lots of explosives!

8 different gamemodes to play:

-Infection, Mayhem, TDM, Tag Collector, Random HP, Competitive, Brickbattle, KoTH

7 maps to battle on:

-Arena, Tropical, Alley, Town Square, Baseplate, Techno, and Snowglobe

-Most maps have tons of destructible parts

Use status effects to get kills!

-Freeze, burn, stun, poison, and there's forcefield to negate all damage

Multiple badges!

-Spans from easy to near impossible achievements

Redeem codes for stuff?

-Code button in menu -> input a valid code -> reward!

-If you see this, use these codes: “freecoins”, “freerubies”, “december”

Titles and Kill effects!

-Flex your cool effects and titles*

*Bought from shop, non-refundable

VIP Server Commands!

-Get some admin commands, /cmds for list

-VIP SERVERS ARE FREE?!!!?

IMPORTANT NOTES:

-You cannot earn rubies in VIP servers or servers with < 3 people

-Some badges are not obtainable in VIP servers, such as ‘Merciless’ (10x killstreak)
-Premium players get a 1.5x daily reward multiplier
-Game only starts getting fun at 3+ players, 1v1 is kinda lame
-EXCLUSIVE TITLE ON JOIN, EXPIRES SOON

Game seems pretty fun. Quite similar to item asylum but featuring destruction lol, too bad I had no one to cause mayhem with :/.

Yeah, I originally wanted to make it somewhat like IA but I went another way after a bit, adding kill effects, UI map voting, etc.
There might be people playing later. Depends if the algorithm and ads are in my favor.

Ads are running now.

The game is similar to item asylum yet there is one difference that the hitboxes suck

I recently changed the hitboxes from runservice to .touched to see if performance improves.

It seems it didn’t.

Hey your game has a good amount of visits and people playing and Im honestly surprised and proud of you! (Good to see a game get popular lol)

May i ask, how did you advertise your game? Like did you use the roblox ad system, or sponsorships, and if you did, how much Robux did you spend? (Im close to releasing my own game so thats why im curious)

Additionally, I see someone said the hitboxes suck so… are you making the hitboxes on the server-side or client-side? I’ve had hitbox problems in my game, but they are pretty much fixed now.

For ads, I used Roblox’s new Ad Manager. A few times, it bugged and spent my ad budget (~5k) in 2 hours and left like 1 ad credit left for the remainder 2 days. (Also for the bugged ads, it gave me like 500 players for like 10 minutes and dropped down slowly.)
In total, I spent about 30k on 4 campaigns over a span of 6 months.

As for the hitboxes, they are server-sided and worked perfectly before I switched to .touched (for testing performances and stuff)

Hope yours turn out as well as mine did, if not better!

aight and btw my hitboxes are client sided cuz the hitboxes might go behind the player if its server sided (for the hitboxes that arent intended to)

Also i found that server sided hitboxes can be not consistent when working with fast-moving projectiles, but its not too big of an issue. Hopefully you manage to perfect the hitboxes!

And thanks for the info, the roblox ad manager can be a little silly at times lol

My hitboxes are welded to the player so that isn’t too much of an issue. The only hitbox inaccuracies are for projectiles that use velocity and collision.

Ah i see, Yea the server and projectiles dont go along very well so thats why I use :SetNetworkOwner() for like every projectile I have

Also, I recently tried your game I think the effects are pretty cool, i might have to learn from that

Nice work man! A few months after this post I thought this game was forever dead, but you never gave up and proved me wrong.

Anyway thanks for sharing your experience with Ads Manager, that will definitely help me in the near future.
