I’m going to share this in hopes that it gets shared with the team this time instead of being outright ignored…
this popup scares me more than any damn horror movie I’ve seen
I second this. A favorites page or tagging system would significantly reduce the time it takes to sort through places.
We have a lot of cache and performance tweaks that weren’t able to be turned on yet. Give us a little time (like a week or so) and I promise it will keep getting better.
Correct. The TLDR is Friends is actually a per place setting while Public/Private are universe settings. So in the case of multiple places in a universe, it’s possible to have a mix of permissions. There’s also a discrepancy in how Studio handles this compared to Creator Dashboard.
We hope to make Friends a proper universe level value but then we have to figure out the right way to migrate existing experiences without breaking them. But there’s a team interested in solving this for the Activity Feed stuff sooner than later.
Hopefully that helps explain why it’s not as simple as it seems!
@pyxfluff nobody wants to kill that thing more than me.
But my idea I think is better than even a toast: just make a “Recovery” tab in the sidebar that shows any autosaves and lets you manage them from there. What do you think?
Kill it with fire
We successfully killed the giant blue “Refresh” button. This is next on my hit list.
That’s correct. We shipped with cache and quick loading logic but discovered there was some issues in production that we needed to fix. It should be on within the next week or so.
Yeah all kind of “first pass” rough edges stuff. The design team is highly focused on a standardized design system which will dictate more consistency and polish. So we are just in a slightly awkward time where we don’t want to over invest in tidying up what’s here now when we know a more permanent styling is on it’s way. That said, with the new styling system we should be able to tighten up what’s here without a ton of effort.
Thanks - I’ll make a ticket to be safe. Never worry about if it’s been suggested already!
Weird! If this happens again can you DM the logs to me?
Yes we are tracking this for both the quick recents and the dedicated recents view we’re still working on. My take is that it should just be a straight forward list of any place opened, regardless of sub place, local file, start place, etc.
That’s a nice solution, better than my original idea. Maybe you could have some sorta blue dot there with a number to indicate there are still games there but besides that thank you for finally listening
i wish it was a tracked statistic so i could see how many times i’ve said “no, i don’t want to open a recovery file from 2017”. would prob be in the thousands at this point
I’d also like to mention one final thing, would it be possible to get a Pinned/Favourites tab? I work on a ton of games across multiple groups, and while the recent tab does function for the most part, I think most people would agree that having a secondary pinned tab (ideally on the home page but a tab is good too), in an order you desire would be far more effective.
New UI is great and im only suffering from 1 small problem, My mouse’s scroll wheel is broken and in the studio home page there isn’t a scroll bar to click on i know it looks slicker and more modern but for simple accessibility reasons why not just add a small scroll bar on the right
Are you not human than??
Besides of jokes
Is the tour bug already fixed I would like to check out the tour but when I arrived at the toolbox you can’t go further and need to close studio
Then we have the docking system if I close when playtest it docking system will reset and I sometimes click close when in playtest if I also test on other devices and forget I was in playtesting when searching for bugs
Not going offtopic what about custom tabs for the home pages rn I need to go to → experiences → group experiences (in some way the same last joined edit access group always popup first but is almost at the bottom of my group list) → select the correct group (before it saved the group page and selected group) → then select the arrow dropdown carefully so I don’t join the main place if we can make like custom tabs with selected experiences needed for the current projects you working on maybe another for commision
oh damn thats actually better
many times when the studio crashes out for the 390th time
Yes, definitely. But first we need to get the Recents View up and we need to figure out how much we want to make the pinning a synced/cloud thing or just local to the Studio install. It will likely start off as local only either way. No ETA but it’s on the short list.
Thanks good point! I don’t think it was a intentional thing just needed someone to point it out
There’s a totally new tour being built and almost done that addresses all the issues of the current tour. Hoping that comes out in the next couple weeks.
The docking system no longer purposely or automatically resets. It’s possible there’s a bug where we aren’t properly saving/restoring layout when switching into play test but more likely is you’re hitting the “faster play solo” options where we disable plugins at play test time. You can change these in Studio Settings > Studio > Test
We are considering customization on Start Page but first we want to get the Recents View, saving last viewed options, and then pinning done. Then we’ll see if there’s still a need for custom views. It will be a little while.
