So far so good, everything seems to be fixed. Thanks for the quick patch!
These things that say Public or Private:
Yes. Everything from install to launch to login is going to get refreshed with the new design system when it’s ready.
Unfortunately thumbnails are a whole cloud service thing. We can only work with what it provides. This is why having thumbnails for local files isn’t as easy as it should be. That said, I’ll share this with the team that’s been working on place open to see if we can do some sort of cache.
Uh. That’s not right at all. Has it always been this way for you? Are you running some odd desktop scaling? Here’s what production looks like:
i think it happens on low ram, i had firefox, vscode and minecraft running before studio, then i closed then and opened studio. it also effects the new homepage. can be also replicated on the roblox android client on 512mb ram on a mid intensive game, after leaving the home page becomes blurry
edit : screen res is 13__ x 768
(i dont remember those digits)
scaling : 100%
Ah ok. Thanks for the extra details. It seems like we could handle that more gracefully so I’ll pass along to the team.
Will they be able to say “Friends” for friend-only games? i’ve noticed they say “Public” even though the game is friends-only
I completely disagree, to be honest, the old start page was way faster, in fact it loaded game thumbnails for me instantly unlike the new one which would take around 1-4 seconds to load them. I can send you a video in DMs to show that if you want.
It doesn’t seem like the thumbnails are cached or preloaded so that the next time you switch tabs they would load instantly. Honestly they should just be cached or preloaded the moment studio loads so that they would load instantly.
It works correctly, thank you!
Yeah… I pointed that out a while back… as it’s hard to see the setting from Studio, unless you go to the settings of the experience
However, they are on it, but with some complications, so we’ll likely only see it appear as “Friends” on the Home page of Studio somewhat early next year, as I was told.
as always, things needed to come & go, do you want that outdated Start Page with 2015 styling (blue buttons, blue navbar on light mode, Source Sans Pro), usage of QT over Luau to last forever?
very slow and buggy for me, cant even see most of my places with this new one
not sure why you care by style, its a developing tool the old one had much better functionality than this new one we have
i know, but Studio in general will be totally overhauled as part of Roblox’s UI design system upgrade in 2025, that includes this & the Roblox client app
performance issues? nah, i run it fine on 2nd generation i3…
Not really, don’t get me wrong, I’ve always wondered why the Roblox website and the universal app got their UIs updated many times, while the Studio has had the same old UI for a very long time with the bad design choices. I was glad when I heard Studio was finally getting a UI refresh, not just a UI refresh but a new UI core architecture that would reduce the crashes and hangs caused by the old UI core, which is great. But I most certainly don’t want the replacement to function worse in any way compared to what it is replacing.
One of the biggest goals for this new UI core architecture is to reduce crashes and hangs caused by the old UI so it wouldn’t make sense for the new UI to just be slower than the old one. My expectations are for the new UI is to at least have the same performance as the old one if not faster which is what is being advertised.
Right now, I have having some flicker issues with the new start page other than it being slower compared to the old one, so I hope both issues would get fixed sometime soon. The new studio start page didn’t get released in beta, it was just rolled out to 50% of users in the past 3 weeks (I am one of them) and now it got fully rolled to everyone. Not much has changed, at least for me compared to 3 weeks ago. I would understand if it was released in this state in beta, but it’s not and it’s fully rolled out to everyone so Roblox has to make sure that it functions as good as the old one at least if not better. If something new isn’t finished, got some major bugs, or doesn’t function as good as what it is replacing then it simply shouldn’t be released especially to everyone until these issues get fixed.
Not sure if this has been requested yet, but it would be great if sub-places were able to be opened through “Recent Experiences” in some way. Overall a fairly good overhaul though
From what I can see it’s engine level texture downscaling to prevent exhausting all the memory, but if the aggressiveness is reduced could it also be replicated onto the Universal app?
