Looks like that worked! The first time around after logging back in, the pages refused to load and then studio crashed. But then opening studio after that seems to be fine now.
Edit: It just broke again within a few minutes, and now I can’t open places from the home page (clicking on the thumbnails does nothing)
By every measure we have so far, this Start Page outperforms the old UI. There are no extraneous animations. The “shimmer” loading effect, which is very similar to our player app, is displayed during the same time the old loading cube animation used to appear.
We haven’t added very much responsiveness yet. But with the new UI framework we are much better positioned to take advantage of the space and offer more customization options. Just getting started!
It’s not a big deal. I will open it from Roblox. Restarting, logging in and out and switching accounts didn’t work. But in the future if an update does have known issues please allow creators to disable and enable that update until the known issues are resolved. Something to consider, it wouldn’t be bad. Thank you. Oh and the homepage games don’t open when you click on them.
Surprisingly the new UI is still responsive. I thought it wouldn’t be as responsive as next-gen UI beta (at least for the first time when you switch categories).
Hopefully the performance won’t be as bad as TextChatService since it suffered from React’s performance overhead a lot.
Have React been optimized or something?
I don’t mind the new start page honestly, but it is still an improvement.
(and on the other hand, we gotta learn to move on. Blender updated from this grayscale UI to a modern and actually good usable UI)
Hey there sorry to bother but any chance the team working on studio could add a “open place in a new window” button when you right click a place? I’ve suggested this right after the replies opened but never got a reply back :c
We have no intentions of making a touchscreen capable or mobile UI. Not once have I heard our designers say, “lets make it iPad.” There is a very long term effort to get consistency with our design across most of our products and our player app does have affordances for mobile. So maybe that’s where the impression is coming from. We’ll keep iterating.
I’ve forwarded the readability concerns to the designers. It could be a combination of text size, weight, contrast, or rendering. We will dig deeper here.
You can sort list view by Name, Last Edited, and Date Created. Maybe we need to make the whole column header clickable? Leaving the Grid/List toggle in the same place is a good point.
Views should not auto refresh every time you load. We have a change for that pending and should be out next week.
We didn’t Beta this but it was running at 50% test (meaning half of our daily users had it) for the past 3 weeks.
Yeah so if you’re interested in the details: this endpoint always returns a HTTP 200 but the actual status is passed as a message and that message isn’t always consistent (it almost seems random but it seems affected by specific user IDs). Our new Start Page assumed a consistent formatting.
We are escalating our process to get a patch out today.
Ohhh sorry. Yes we tried to run the experiment before this most recent one and had to pull it down. So you were probably in the first try but didn’t get in on the second (it’s random assignment)
