Next Gen Studio - Preparing for Takeoff! [Beta]

That’s a lot of replies in seven hours!
I just hope it’s good and practical.

I have no kind words to say on this that would not be expletives. Now I regret having auto beta features enabled.

Wow this looks really good. Some of the text and button align feels a bit off though and the play button is quite small.

Even smaller?!?

Edit: Now I see that the buttons aren’t actually that small, the top bar is just huge.

You should add the Play/Stop button and Game Settings button in Home’s toolbar

Overall I like it.
The main thing I miss is the ‘Import 3D’ button.

Please add this back in the menu.
There’s room left under the avatar tab. I think it would fit nicely there next to the avatar setup.

womp womp broski, why not go all out and install Windows Vista while you’re at it?

This is not just a “design” thing, outdated, unorganized framework is getting removed, a new framework will give engineers an easier job to work with and maintain.

After this operation, an error will occur when the material button is clicked.

The new version doesn’t have the function to adjust the display constraint size. I don’t know what this function is called and can’t find it.
And this name is particularly long and much wider than other things. I think he can customize the name.

Hmm, going inside a script doesn’t automatically switch to the script tab

And I think there should be icons in the menu items for better clarity, like it did in the old ribbon

The only issues i have is that the UI takes way more space than the normal old UI. And the Ribbon top bar feels completely different in a bad way than the old one. The old one is much more responsive and just works. This one is slow and sometimes disappears casually when i’m using it.
If this issues get adressed i feel like this UI is superior, tho there needs to be a change.

This would be amazing, I hate seeing wasted space on the top bar

^^ This!!
This has been my #1 complaint about this entire thing. The Lua UI just feels… slow, unresponsive and sometimes janky. This is the case for all widgets being rewritten in Lua. Examples include the toolbox, the new explorer, the terrain editor, they’re all super laggy and they suck to use.

I hope the old Studio UI can still be kept somehow.

working was hell, yes, but the design was better then using ‘TextChatService’ which just makes your experience in a game more modern which I don’t really like.

Deprecation is better then just removing it, I am pretty sure they remove it because they don’t like their legacy features, they claim they doing it cuz it doesnt integrate with their parental controls.

It’s not just you, don’t worry. I think the buttons look way too big, and there is also something else, I just can’t really put a word on it.

So much wasted space, I prefer the current UI

I’m actually pleasantly surprised. Previously I hated next gen studio, but with customization, it’s actually such a great improvement.

The only thing I really hope is a possibility is the ability to add the big play button into a tab, as I did prefer it. I liked being able to throw my mouse across the screen and easily click it to quickly test.

Please do not force this UI on us before every window like the output, properties etc. has been fitted to look like this UI. That is also a major concern that I have - things looking completely out of place.

This is not to complain just to complain, I think this is pretty valid.

I’m assuming this is releasing so soon because of a corporate mandate or something? From what I’ve heard from others, this isn’t exactly ready yet. It has plenty of bugs, it’s too slow, and has a lot of issues regarding actually using screen space.

I haven’t used it much myself, partially because of bugs but mainly because I don’t want to re-learn a bunch of stuff even if it is better overall. Guess I’m gonna be forced to now. Whatever, I’ve been through this song and dance before.

Mini-tangent: More customizability is awesome to have, but I feel like its potential hasn’t been tapped into fully. Imagine if there were skins that changed how Studio looked, like with Foobar2000 or something. That’d be awesome, and would near-instantly eliminate the divide people have with this update because the people who don’t vibe with it could just use something else. It would’ve been awesome to see something like that. Oh well.
