Next Gen Studio - Preparing for Takeoff! [Beta]

Yeah I’ve wondered about the tab selection scrolling. Thanks for the feedback!

Are we gonna have the “Plugins Folder” and “Manage Plugins” buttons in the “Plugin” tab in the initial release?

Hello,

Yes those more complex controls aren’t yet supported in Add Tools. The workaround for now is to duplicate the tab that does contain those controls and edit it from there. Tiny grid of icons is also sort of a complex control but it’s a request we’ve heard.

Thank YOU for the notes!

Could we maybe get the ability to set events? Like in our custom tabs we can set an event like “script opened” or something like that? It’s probably a weird suggestion, it’s just something I came up with.

Yeah something like that is what I’m thinking. We’ve got a mountain of work before we get to that point. But the good news is we are working in that general direction.

Disables a core built-in feature that houses a certain desired feature
“Why my desired feature no work??? :(”

It’s in the Plugins menu or you can add them to your own tab.

Perhaps you guys can implement a default button frame with a UIListLayout that houses only a certain number of compact button elements? I don’t think it would be that hard to implement, though drag and drop may make it more difficult.

Didn’t know about that but Thanks

Yeah - I don’t think any of it is particularly difficult and we aren’t opposed to the idea. Just the tradeoffs of priorities and time constraints.

It’s not in the default Plugins tab for me, and if I had to make my own tab with them, I would have to manually also put in every plugin. I think it’s more convenient to have them in the default Plugins tab. :slightly_smiling_face:

With all the reactions I have seen from the community, I think it would be worthwhile to implement it, as it would make the transition process much smoother. Though I agree that some other things have higher priority and should be done first.

It’s about the tradeoff, which happens to be quite worth it. The ribbon bar is enormous and scantly useful even when collapsed and even in the proposed compact design, so I explored simply cutting it out entirely. Here’s to another several months of this beta’s release being delayed!

Why don’t you like the menu option? Genuinely curious.

Also you could duplicate the Plugins tab and just plop them in the copy. The copy won’t update when new plugins are installed but just wanted to point out some of the new possibilities.

once you fix all the issues you have pointed out, i wouldnt be too against using this new UI, just need it to be more compact and less buggy.

Right, didn’t think about that. Contextual preferences would be cool!

Are you also considering to make text more readable using subpixel rendering? I made a reply about it here (sorry if it’s probably being asked about too much, I’ve seen people mention it aswell)

It would be annoying to have to manually add the plugin to the tab every time I installed a new one.

I like the Plugins dropdown a lot, but is there any chance the single option menus could be condensed?
