Next Gen Studio - Preparing for Takeoff! [Beta]

Yeah… we ported over a ton of existing “actions” and tools that never realized they would live in a customizable world  We will tidy these up with time but thought it was more important to make them available as they sit.

Customizing their name and icon is an interesting idea!

I highly agree, though they do look fine in the overflow menu however.
Also, when will we see the new dark colors in production? They look good from what you have posted, design team has done a pretty fine job.

Edit:
This also keeps happening whenever I re-connect to a team-create session:

I have one CRUCIAL question, will recording in studio be overhauled?

Like we’ll finally be able to record and save videos in the .MP4 format instead of the pesky .WMV format, with the ability to choose the quality?

Can you elaborate on that last part? What are the steps to reproduce?

I can’t exactly tell, but whenever my connection gets interrupted (network problems), and the Studio disconnects from the Team Create session and connects back once the network problems are resolved, sometimes the top left appears like that.

Not entirely sure though. If there are any other steps to re-produce that I can find, Ill keep you guys updated.

Thanks, we’ll take a look there. (This is an existing issue on old Ribbon as well, just an annoying one to track down). And yes, please DM or reply if you get more info.

This is actually awful please revert it like it’s not just that i’m not used to change, it’s just so tedious and annoying to use like omd :sob: just polish the old one and keep stuff where it should be. Nobody is asking for this

I agree recording should be overhauled, in the meantime I highly recommend ffmpeg. Its a command line tool for everything media format related. Converting from .wmv to .mp4 is just ffmpeg -i input.wmv output.mp4

even if they are the execution is horrible. nothing flows… even the explorer so many smaller things like idk… paste into original location is gone, now it’s in an annoying dropdown menu… lots of similar changes like that were made for this new studio layout that i just hate

A very good advice: Don’t fix it if it ain’t broken.
Sadly Roblox didn’t know/listen to that.

I am missing a few of my plugins in my plugins bar and I don’t know how to bring them back. The manage plugins button is gone. I actually have two studio instances open, one with the new layout and one with the old, and the old one has all the icons I require.

I’m okay with the new UI though it looks cool by the way and at least it feels modern. However the downside of this update is the unfamiliarity. I’ve been using classic Roblox Studio layout for almost a decade, and now I have to relearn everything just to get used to the new layout.

It would be better if there were an option to keep the default layout for older users while introducing the new layout for newer users.

Personally I don’t like it because I can no longer work on games as efficiently with these studio new gen. I can however but I have to spend time relearning everything It’s just simply daunting. The mouse positioning feels off and all our memory and workflows which we familarize lt over the years are just went to hell tabs and tools we used to familiar with are now scattered or even hidden or removed making the new layout feel inflexible and harder to use

making us working on game more less efficiently.

There also seems to be some performance impact with this update as well.

Right Click on Plugins > Duplicate Tab
After duplication, go to the new Plugins tab, and right click at the empty space, click “Add Tools” and search for the missing plugins to add them manually.
You can then disable the original Plugins tab.

I think the main complaint here is the huge buttons and such. The older UI had smaller everything basically. It had a smaller top bar and smaller buttons. For older developers this created fast work flows without needing to switch tabs constantly.

I understand that if you make all the buttons too small and too much in one tab it would overwhelm new developers however there should be enough customization to be able to fit a lot of stuff in 1 tab, even if it may seem too much to some. I hope custom tabs would allow similar small button behavior and such so it can be good for older developers.

That would count but eventually it’s all lean towards work efficiency, we all used to familiar with older UI layout, now we have to spent our time learning everything new.

I’m unsure if the icons are final but I find a lot of them unusual/confusing.

The shapes in the boolean operation icons are barely touching which does a poor job at visually showing what the operation does, especially Negate.

A little bit more intersection would go a long way:

The PointLight looks like a rotated spotlight instead of a point light

The old ParticleEmitter & Highlight icons look visually more accurate to what the instance does

It looks like they are already working on that

So what you are essentially saying is that Roblox doesn’t care at all if you are uncomfortable with using this new UI which has different layouts/button positions and we should just throw months of muscle memory into the trash to adopt this by force.
Just no words to describe these updates nowadays :clap:
