Next Gen Studio - Preparing for Takeoff! [Beta]

my muscle memory will be ruined, gonna take forever to get used to when it goes out of beta

what does this have to do with studio

Hm are there people facing that issue? I feel like its countable on fingers.

That’s not the sole issue I believe.

If you feel you can count the people complaining about loss of muscle memory on fingers I’ll ask you to try again.

Of course it isn’t. However the staff responses to actual constructive criticism of the new UI have been far better than they usually are and people should continue to provide it rather than flooding a good half of the replies with “this sucks lol”. Collecting feedback is exactly why this exists as a beta feature.

…Well that’s an issue, how am I gonna access the rest of my plugins for the time being?

yo istg if I hear “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” one more time ill start tweaking

the thing is, Studio IS broken, the backend is a buggy mess, and previous engineers did not prioritize forward compatibility, which resulted in an unorganized spaghetti framework, adding and updating it is a pain for everyone, not to mention that it looks like a Windows 7 application with a plain dark / light color theme instead of Windows Aero

Slight inconvenience that we’ve gotta do this now, but hey, at least I can access the stuff I need… Thank you!

allow next gen explorer to play test normally and play test with sessions

say I have 1 server and 1 player (session)
and I am scripting there and I want to update my code and test it on the single playtest

issue is that roblox studio wont allow single test without ending my current session

did chatgpt write this?? wdym “Frustration Over Monetization Changes” :sob:

That has nothing to do with Next Gen Studio

@MeshOfPaul
Since the new UI is being written in Lua, would it be possible to modify the source to change some of the looks of the ribbon? (Possible open source?)

Is it possible that this update causes massive lag spikes?
Entire PC is lagging…

Maybe, but it could be the Lua UI to Qt bridge causing most lag issues

off-topic but that’s really subjective, from my perspective, Windows 7 was an okay OS during it’s time in 2009, animations were laggy, most UI features were unorganized, and personally, I despise Windows Aero
coming from someone who still has to use Win7 almost every day, sadly

Could you guys consider keeping both as options? One as modern, one as legacy/compact? I think it’s dumb to remove the old one entirely

Unfortunately, it isn’t “dumb” as on the developer’s side of updating ‘next gen explorer’ would also mean they have to update the old studio, which causes more money and time consuming for having multiple devs work on the same thing vs just working on one, newly improved version.

2 entirely different code bases btw

oh ‘ok’ i’m sorry for not ‘realising’ it was ‘dumb’ because the ‘next gen explorer’ would require ‘updates’ along with the regular 'one. ‘thanks for helping me’ understand ‘’

seriously though could you not keep it as a highly unrecommended deprecated feature with a little popup? :sob:

Aight, I’m dumping any sense of professionalism, because this is getting infuriating.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

STAFF HAVE REPEATEDLY SAID THAT WON’T BE HAPPENING BECAUSE IT’S A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THING. OLD UI USES QT, NEW UI USES REACT-LUA. MAINTAINING BOTH UIS WOULD BE AN EXPENSIVE NIGHTMARE. AAAAAAAA
