Next Gen Studio - Preparing for Takeoff! [Beta]

yea your right on this one, i just feel like maybe they could update it to include presets for the old toolbar, a builder, a scripter, etc

Why does it have to be so huge? I wish I could make it smaller as it really bothers me, the good thing about the old UI was the fact that I could hide it using the arrow
image
Why is that not in the new UI? The keybind for it is Ctrl + F1 which I tried in the new UI and it seems like it was completely removed.

I wouldn’t mind it too much if this feature wasn’t removed, because my main problem with it is how large it is.

This, I feel should be customizable, I’m sure it would make it harder to read for some people if it was smaller, but I’d love to be able to customize the size to my liking.

What I want is ability to collapse topbar. So it won’t exist until I click on one of the tabs, or uncollapse it back.
EDIT:
That’s 1:1 what person above me said. I want that.

Yeah, I kinda of agree with this. I also don’t understand the whole idea of mixing old and new stuff together as a beta feature. It would have been way better if they made a completely new application like “Roblox Studio 2” with the new, updated UI and framework. (not expert opinion but sure looks easier than to do this beta feature bs especially if it is so hard to work with the current Studio as they say it is)

They could’ve let us test it out and give feedback over a year or two before fully changing to the new Studio build. Prob would have been less frustrating for everyone

Hey I don’t know If it Is only happening to me tho. I can’t see the Whole plugins in the Plugin Section When tho If I Expand by The Three dot icon it won’t show me my whole plugins that I have. And also the logos of plugins Aren’t visible.

Was wondering if you guys can Make. scroll down system for the plugins So we can Scroll down and select suitable Plugins.

Idk if this is only happening to me tho So if you guys anyone also experienced this Lmk.

I believe their gonna remove the dropdown overflow and switch it to a horizontal scrolling for any overflow off screen.

Me to, I have the same issue. They are still working on this New fanged UI, and sometimes I wish they would’ve gave us an option to make this optional, but I don’t really know at this point. In my opinion, I like the Old UI (The Legacy Studio UI) better, that’s all.

Bro where is the view tab… I need to open up asset manager…

I think the main thing that would make this a lot more compact is just combining the tabs (Home, Model…) with the top bar (File, Edit…). The top bar barely has any buttons in it and just creates a very large blank ribbon.

I’m not sure I’ll be able to find the reply but I’m sure they said they’ve played around with this idea in a similar to way to how VSC handles it:

edit, got it

Really cool there’s custom tabs to just throw in whatever you want for your own studio niches, though I wonder how this will affect new users from being aware essential features exist since now a good chunk are hidden in a list of options that you have to re-add yourself. The biggest one for me is the undo and redo buttons, they’re nowhere on the main screen and you have to go in and out of your custom tab just to see how further back/forward you can still go. Not very intuitive.

For me, I wish to be able to scroll through my options or have a button on the left/right to cycle through what I have on incase my tab has a lot going on in it since I am on a smaller screen at the moment. There is no way to scroll down on this far right menu so you just have options you can’t even reach.

I appreciate you guys trying to modernize studio and give us more leeway to access stuff faster, but I am just iffy on trying to have us resort to everything to custom tabs to make up for a smaller menu selection. I’d still prefer having stuff up on the toolbar at all times like, yes, undo and redo. Other people complained about wanting the more advanced features too and I honestly don’t know why that’s gone either. For the most part we will be EATING otherwise.

Some buttons got moved to the top left, go to Window > Asset Manager

I like it, but I’ll give some criticisms.

  • The weird row separation lines don’t look great, but I like the column separation lines.
  • I prefer the first look for the test dropdown, it looks much nicer filled in rather than outlined.
  • The grid adjustment text box feels a bit short in the new version, but I do like that it shows as “1 stud” instead of “1 studs”.
  • This is also an issue the first version had, but the Transform icon is misleading. It implies a vertex editor, when the tool just combines Move, Rotate, and Scale.
  • The names off tools being cut off looks awkward.

Everything else looks a lot better in the new version though!

man no one looks at the top left, did they really have to make useful buttons not on the ribbon by default? Device emulator, Import 3D, and Find All aren’t on the ribbon on default either. I use those buttons a lot.

Also I agree with some other people that the new UI looks like it was made for mobile.

The main pain point I have right now is the tooltips.
They get stuck on screen quite frequently if your mouse passes quickly over something and are also rendered independently of the main studio window meaning they’ll be there if you open another application.
(i actually think ive seen this happen in the old ui before but it was far less frequent and would be nice to see it patched here)

This is in VSC:

hey staff, the ui sucks. not as in the design but it’s so buggy like when I have it as undocked the UI will not collapse. i gotta click so many times before it actually collapses, can you make its collapsing work like the old one? for gods sake

There are many reasons, I’ve highlighted them below!
Many developers have expressed dissatisfaction with the new interface for several key reasons:

  1. Lack of Professional Feel
The previous UI offered a more professional and robust appearance, with a wide array of clearly visible options that contributed to a productive development environment. Although the new interface appears cleaner, a minimalist design doesn’t always translate to a better user experience—especially for seasoned developers who value functionality over aesthetics.

  2. Resistance to Change and Nostalgia
Developers who have been using the classic interface for years find the switch jarring. For some, the new design is so unwelcome that it feels like a “quit-worthy” change. An option to choose between interface styles would be a valuable compromise, especially given the strong negative feedback from long-time users.

  3. Loss of the ‘Studio’ Identity
A studio tool should feel like a professional development environment. Over-simplification can strip away that identity, making it feel more like a generic app than a serious creation platform—this is a major concern among the developer community.

And where is the platform currency? Every step is towards eliminating robux and replace with cash?

I strongly believe that many developers hate the new interface for many more reasons.

Additionally, the new material manager is perceived as less intuitive, and the platform’s evolution seems to favor drastic redesigns over meaningful improvements. Many believe that innovation should enhance existing features—not eliminate or complicate them.

I couldn’t even tolerate the new interface lol, truly iconic update!

Absolutely wild take. Custom tabs are quite literally the answer to the issues people have with the rearranged tabs and tools.

Everything else beyond that is just subjective. Not that it isn’t being acted on anyway if people would actually read the staff responses to stuff like the padding concerns.
