in the up bar theres no Undo and redo icons
Hey, I just found a small bug in the Next Gen Explorer!
Here’s what happened:
I searched for the word “READ” in the Explorer (just the word itself) and then clicked on to test while the word was still in the search bar. I tested my game for a bit and then stopped it. Afterward, the output printed the errors provided in the image.
I tried repeating the steps with other words, but the error only occurs with the word “READ,” regardless of case sensitivity.
Can’t seem to find where the run button is. Can anyone tell me?
its under file and u gotta press the little arrow in the corner to switch it to run instead of play
How do you get 2 players? Here’s how I did it before.
When I start local server only 1 player is started, how can I change this value?
I dont think they’ve added that yet.
-
Start the server in the play dropdown
-
Wait before the windows are loaded
-
When loaded go to the window of player 1 and go to the play dropdown again and click the start server button again this will create another window etc
Hello!
Recently i started using the new studio interface and everything was great until today. I as usually opened studio and then got into my game and for some reason there was no topbar anymore!
I tried disabling all plugins but it didnt get me anywhere.
I wasnt able to find a working solution for me as of now…
Here is the screenshot of how it looks :
If the Next Gen Studio UI beta feature gets a full release, it will remove the current beloved Studio UI forever, plus I was scared so it will be my worst nightmare.
Maybe I’ll slowly get used to the new Next Gen Studio UI to continue with my happy developing time With the full release coming soon there’s no way to reverse it, the new different UIs are so lush for me that I had to reflex about it. Maybe it’ll be a blessing if my answers reach 300 likes because I’m advising you

Just reinstall Roblox Studio ,the most used method to repair Studio Issues
I’m assuming they’re going to alter the current next gen design once everything else is fully functional (Correct me if I’m wrong)
i have disabled the next gen preview as i’ve come across a bug that just removes the topbar entirely, i’m not sure whats causing it tho : (
i like the new ui. its hard to get used to, but gets the work done.
i would like to point out some issues related to the new explorer tab, nextgen ui and related
note: i am using an non official version of roblox studio for linux called vinegar, so some of the issues im pointing out may not happen on windows
explorer:
i miss the ability to do box selections on the explorer. i dont know if i just dont know how to do it in the new explorer or that this feature just got removed. the closest i got was using shift + clicking on the instances i want to do in-between selection.
child highlights should be darker. its easier to distinguish them from the explorer’s gray color than from the selection’s blue color, so because of that its pretty easy to get confused in what you’re actually selecting
numbered created instances shouldn’t have spaces. it’s more of a convenience for easier scripting
next gen ui:
why does the tabs takes up so much of the screen?
also there is a lot of wasted spaces
plugin’s buttons takes too much space. would be easier if the text could be compressed into two lines or just add 3 dots when the name gets too big (big plugin nam…)
this happens with all tabs, not only plugins, but this problem is more visible on the plugins tab
i dont have a problem with it cause i dont have that much plugins, but ive seen people complain about the inexistence of scrolling when this popup gets too big
i know it has been moved to the view tab, but i feel like the script tab has lots of space avaiable to move the script debugging buttons back
why does it have two styles?
i dont think this is fixable, cause of language issues, but im still pointing it out.
when the name of the tab is too big, the text almost seems to escape the button when it is selected
i dont think we need pause, stop, or server/client buttons while not in playtest mode
also, i know this is probably a design choice, but in my taste im not much of a fan of it
other related issues:
note: this one is specifically for better camera controls beta feature, i think
the camera view box should be smaller. it takes lots of space. or else make the speed slider a bit closer to the box
when on local places, the name of the tab should just diplay the file name instead of the file location (“blenderObjetos.rbxl - Roblox Studio” instead of all this mess)
please dont make the splash screen be in front of all the apps even tho another app got focused
thats it. my general opinion about these ui updates? i like them, but why the taking of so much space
but ngl the new explorer was a big big improvement
also hey, today’s morning i was messing with some extensions of my desktop enviroment (kde plasma) and enabled a extension that animates windows being resized by apps.
for some reason, it also animates the tooltips being shown on studio, and i kinda like that, looks slick. it should be a feature
note: ignore the flashing, this is a bug due to running roblox studio on linux
note but another: the name of the extension for plasma users interested in having the same effect is geometry change. to install it, go to system config - workspace behavior - workspace effects - install new workspace effects. it should appear there after installed
I really love the Next Gen Studio UI design, but sadly I had to remove it from my beta features because it gives me a lot of problems and makes my work slower. Sadly, I had to return to the old one because of these problems. Also as @4GatDevForum said, it happens to many players, including me, so it would be really helpful if we got a solution for it. For my part, I can give any details of the issues I have, but in general, they are the same of what 4GatDevForum sent, thank you.
I just realized:
Highlight finally is acknowledged on the effects dropdown and not just the add part!
Hi @MeshOfPaul hope you had a good Christmas and happy late new year
Well the new ribbon is writted in luau then the mouse enter and mouse leave events should respond and clear it up like I did in my plugin
Good I just noticed that you can create a context menu with plugins thanks to a post from @ALFA_DEVELOPER so my actual question would be is it possible to get the context menu actions to an button with custom tabs that would save some clicks
So I made a button with a context menu for quick actions
And another thing I noticed with plugins it looks like plugin api doesn’t exist it in some way doesn’t auto fill when using the plugin APIs
Hey @MeshOfPaul,
Just wondering if there’s any news about the smooth caret typing animation for the scripting tab? I’m curious if it’s going to be added in the future.
Also, if my suggestion gets implemented, please consider adding a setting to disable it.
I also have another suggestion!
Could you add a feature where dragging and dropping one scripting tab on top of another creates a group of those scripts–something like a tab folder?
could be helpful at organizing tabs
I am totally against this, I do not like some of the UI that has been resized to take more space from the screen, I am on a laptop and the fact that some of the things in the next gen UI have been resized to be bigger or to take more space is a L for small-screen users, specifically laptop users or people with low resolution.
