It’s awful thanks for sharing this with us. Can’t wait until it’s no longer optional and everyone is FORCED into using this. In the meantime when are we getting tools to be able to reasonably comply with the right to erasure requests flooding my inbox, among many other unsolved issues? But at least we got a more dumbed down studio UI that will make it 10x harder to get to niche and specific tools.

Right now tooltips are a workflow-breaking issue with the amount of disruption they cause sticking on your screen when they shouldn’t be. This issue was originally reported months ago and no progress has been made, despite your continued acknowledgement of it. Considering this timeline of events, I’d hope you could consider adding a simple toggle in the meanwhile so we can essentially disable the one part of the new UI that causes issues for us.

It seems non-bugs (like improving scrolling) are being prioritized over actual issues that are disruptive to workflows and waste time. It is disappointing. I wanted to stick with this new UI but my patience is running out. The fact that such a minor issue with a minor feature cannot be fixed, and that the team refuses to implement a 5 line code fix to allow us to disable tooltips in the meanwhile, is really frustrating.

Unreasonably rude. Try reading the post (You’ll be able to add custom tabs, and more customization features. Also, this might not even be the final design used when it’s fully released.)

Also try using constructive criticism.

I know it’s a beta feature and can be toggled on and off but when it eventually becomes a full feature I’d still like for it to be toggled because I work a lot in studio and have everything down to muscle memory and 1. I don’t have the time to relearn some UI and 2. I don’t want to.

The new UI doesn’t look bad it’s the specific placement and layout of it. So I really ask that when this gets finished if you can still have the option to have the old UI, even though the ‘old’ UI doesn’t even look old in the first place.

Not sure if it’s already been mentioned but if this is to be forced in the future, an easy way to collapse the tabs like the current, non-beta, UI allows us to do (double click any tab to toggle them being collapsed).

Additionally, a way to resize the tab labels and tabs themselves, vertically and horizontally, so we don’t have a massive big bar on top of our screens while we program, play test, take screenshots, record footage, etc.

EDIT: apparently the top bar with the tab labels is called a ribbon and is “docked” or “undocked” which probably should be renamed to “Hidden” and “Visible” since undocked implies it is movable or positioned else where

I feel like it should still automatically go to the “Script” tab when you open a script.

This will sadly not be possible. But look at this., we can possibly expect something similar.

Happy to see this. This seems like an interesting change, but the new UI right now takes up far too much real estate. I’m of the personal belief that UI elements should take up the minimum-possible amount of screen space, so I hope something like this gets implemented before these features are rolled out fully.

The top-bar is basically the only non-customisable part of the Studio screen at the moment, so to make its minimum size significantly bigger as part of a customisation improvement seems like putting cart before horse.

This auto-enabled in my Studio’s betas, and I immediately turned it off.

I don’t hate it, but it does NOT fit my style and workflow. I was actually extremely satisfied with Roblox’s UI already. I think it is important not to change things for the sake of change - If your designers need something to do, there are better things to be working on than a complete overhaul of Studio.

I hope that this remains an optional design, and remains compatible with the original design as an option going forward. I can see plenty of people liking this, but it does not seem like an upgrade or really necessary.

I totally agree. I think a lot of the UI elements currently are way too big.

I tried the new ui, and its been a pain for me to use, its quite hard to navigate through some things as some of the things seem hidden

Another problem I have is the missing features, it has potential but still needs work in my opinion

You can change it back. File → Beta Features → Next Gen Studio Preview and turn it off

This UI update, for the most part, I absolutely do not like. I immediately turned it off after I realized:

  1. Custom icon packs DO NOT work with the new UI
  2. The UI was WAY to huge, reducing the actual screen size of the game window
  3. All your custom shortcuts at the top left corner no longer exist (I had UI editor as a shortcut because Roblox decided to make it impossible to edit your guis since they removed the “UI” button and made it so you can’t select GUIs when pressing the new button)
  4. The script tab does not show up when you’re editing scripts
  5. There is so much wasted space that’s so unnecessary
  6. There is no way to collapse the new ribbon UI like you were able to click the arrow to collapse the old one - This means the UI is forever visible and cannot be collapsed for play testing (correct me if you found a way to hide it)
  7. You can no longer right-click in the empty space to bring up the list of all the elements that you can hide and show (I need this because the run command bar keeps disappearing)
  8. The Plugins UI is even MORE spaced out and you can no longer scroll to the side to view other plugins, instead, they give you a button that opens up a list that gets cut off at the bottom to where you cant see any more plugins
  9. Everything is outlined in bubbles, this is really distracting because it feels like everything is selected by my mouse when its not. (having the square be highlighted instead made it feel like an actual window for that was open (ex: the terrian editor window is open so it was highlighted in a grey square) Now that everything is in rounded circles, it feels a lot more distracting than the squares were (this is just my personal preference)
  10. You can no longer scroll to switch to different tabs in the ribbon ui
  11. Most of the options that were in the old menu have been hidden away within tabs or outright completely removed. (Game Settings, All Undo/Redo/Copy/Paste/Duplicate (ironically makes it less user-friendly), Collisions, Join Surface, Import 3D, Plugin Manager, Spawn Location, All Forms of script editing, collapsing/expanding folds, toggle comments, all debugging expectation settings, record video, screenshot, and many more…
Overall, I’ve only found 2 things this new UI update made better
1- It added a “Go to line” button in the script editor tab (couldn’t find it in the old one)
2- It made the checkboxes in the ribbon bar actual square boxes again! - but now they aren’t blue anymore so doesn’t really count

This UI update needs ALOT of fixing before it could even be considered usable for me. Right now the existing UI is perfect (despite some features being removed over time like the UI toggle)
If this new UI becomes a permanent change with no option to revert to the legacy UI, I may have to stop developing on Roblox. I say this not out of frustration alone, but because the current update significantly reduces my workflow efficiency and removes core features I rely on. I really enjoy creating on this platform, even if my games don’t reach a wide audience, so I hope Roblox reconsiders or offers more flexibility for developers like me.
