No one is playing my game, how do I fix this?

No one is playing my game! I can’t figure out why, is it because of the design? Or is it just because i’m terrible at marketing? I’ve tried making thumbnails and icons. I used the sharing system before it was temporarily removed. That brought some people to my game but no one played for long. This leads me to belive that its either because of the design of the game or the players are just confused about the objective. Please give any suggestions that would make this game more fun to play.

There isn’t much you can do. It’s a box with eggs scattered around it that people can pick up. There’s no gameplay mechanics or anything that interests players for that matter. It feels a bit rushed in every area of game development. I’d focus on adding more features.

Would adding jump power to the upgrades and adding platforms you can jump up onto each of the platforms has an egg on it the higher you go the higher chances of a better egg spawning be good?

Hello there, I do understand your opinion on why people is not playing your game.

The reason is before you make a big game make sure to tell everyone else before making it. Secondly, make sure to sponsor it, the bid for sponsoring could be around 100 to 1k robux this can easily bring other people to play your game. Lastly, advertising; advertising your own game is really helpful especially if you want people playing your game all the time, make sure that the game is addictive and futuristic leaving no bugs.

We all know that now there is too many simulators in Roblox and some of us get bored easily from it. I wouldn’t recommend myself to create a simulator, making a showcase would be fantastic!

Before asking why no one is playing your game.
Play it yourself, try and last 30 minutes. If you can’t then that’s your answer.

If you don’t have any sort of fun playing your own game, why would anyone else?
Try to be creative and once you’ve found that gem and have fully constructed a fun working game you should move onto sponsoring it.

Don’t bid for anything like 100-800, won’t get you much. I’d recommend atleast 10,000 - 50,000

The premise of your “game” is that the player spawns in a large, boring box with randomly generated eggs scattered around. I’ve enclosed the word “game” in quotation marks because it is very far from being a properly functional game. It lacks puzzles, it lacks challenges, it lacks creativity. What can anybody get from your game that they can’t get in official Roblox Easter Egg hunts?

I don’t mean to sound harsh, but the design is completely flawed.

How can you improve it?

  • Add puzzles and challenges.
  • Have an actual environment for the game rather than a large, boring box.
  • Give it a different premise; collecting eggs is boring and overdone.
  • Give it a different name. “:egg:Egg Simulator :egg:(New!)” sounds flimsy, uninspiring, and under-ambitious in the sense that emojis and the “(New!)” tag are completely unnecessary, as is the word “Simulator” which has ubiquitously amateurish connotations.
  • Create a multiplayer dynamic, PvP, whatever.

As mentioned by @Dysche, it feels like this has been rushed – that you’ve attempted to create a popular game for the Easter season with no substance or ambition. I’d definitely consider rethinking your strategy.

The UI is also highly clunky and unmodern. There are a variety of threads in this very forum that deliberate over unhurried UI samples, including those with rounded corners, consistent buttons, and overall an aesthetic design.

Edit: gave more substance to my critique.

@jonjon202 Having played your game, and I mean the next comment in the nicest way possible, its not fun.

The issue with your game comes down to three main issues. Lack of design, lack of things to do, and an inexistent player retention.

Lack of Design:

The game is literally a box with different colours. The map has nothing to it whatsoever. It doesn’t need to be anything special but you could make the map a bit more interesting then just a box. People like to play games which look nice. It doesn’t have to be complicated but it needs to have more of a wow factor then a box.

Lack of things to do:

Your game is literally walking around collecting eggs. It genuinely screams not fun and I honestly don’t know what you thought was going to happen when you released a coin collecting game. Also theres no relevance to it, why are you even collecting eggs?

Lack of player retention:

I encourage you to read this article: “From the Devs”: Making Your Game Last: A Quick Guide on Player Retention, by Nurgenius | by Roblox Developer Relations | Developer Baseplate | Medium

Playing retention is basically summed up as keeping players in your game. It means that people play your game again instead of just playing it once.

As Nurgenius said in the article you need unique gameplay, special events, and non ending gameplay. To me your game does not stand out whatsoever, and I have no desire to collect eggs. I doubt you have updated it much as well which probably hasn’t helped. But most importantly you need to have a fun never ending gameplay which your game just doesn’t have.

Solutions:

If I had to be really harsh I would say pick a new game idea. This game can’t have taken you long to make, and I don’t realistically see it going anywhere

However if you really want to continue I would do the following:

  • Make the map a farm (provides more context and looks nice)

  • Provide more things for players to do. I can’t build a game strategy for you but think about what else could be done.

  • Update your game more.

Realistically though I don’t want you to waste your time so I would suggest either massively increasing the amount of things you can do or pick a new game idea.

I’d argue that if your game is genuinely fun and unique, you won’t need to pay that much for advertising - if anything. It gives it an initial push, which can be good, but it really doesn’t need it if it’s engaging and fun (and has social elements where you’d want to play with friends with).

don’t try to spam save, the game will erase your progress

Saw this in the description of your game. Why is there an option in the first place for players to do this? The game should auto save in intervals, not just when players leave or when a player has to manually go out of their way to do it. But not only that, why in the world do you delete players’ data for saving a lot? That’s just terrible.

I really don’t think that erases data. Even if it does, it’s your fault for making it possible to happen.

I have noticed a lot of things that maybe the reason why your game isn’t doing well.

Here is a few reasons why your game isn’t doing well:

  • The game looks very rushed and the build style could be improved a lot. At the moment it is just a box in the sky. Maybe add a theme to it, for example you can make it so you are on an island in the middle of the sea.
  • All you do in the game is collect eggs and it gets very repetitive just walking around a box.
  • A game needs to be fun for people to play it. I am going to be honest, your game isn’t that fun to play. You need to have a unique twist to your game to make people play it.

Here is a couple of issues that I have come across

  • The leaderstats is incomplete, it doesn’t have names on it so you don’t know what the categories are.

  • The ui needs to looks a lot nicer because at the moment it just looks like it has been put together in a few minutes.

  • This isn’t really an issue as such but may I suggest you add some dev products and game passes to your game so you can make money of it.

I wouldn’t advertise your game yet because their isn’t much to do. Don’t just assume if you advertise your game people will play it all the time. Their is a lot of games on Roblox, your game needs to stand out from the rest. A game should support it self without having to put lots of ads out.

Note: A game isn’t just made overnight it take days upon days of hard work and dedication to do well. Take jailbreak for example I would assume that took a couple of months to make before it went into beta. Then it was in beta for a whole year.

I recommend making a more attractive game icon and thumbnail they play a big role in getting players to notice your game.

The simulator is a type of game that is too much and this are already slowly boring to players as well as tycoons.

I disagree considering how many simulators blew up on the front page in the past week.

I had one of the top rated & most purchased paid access games back in 2014. It was called ‘Mob of the Dead’, it was a round-based Zombie shooter game based from a Call of Duty map that was very popular at the time. Here’s a few reasons I believe it got so much success and so many people purchased it:

  • Good thumbnails.

I had some very appealing renders made for the game featuring neat and unique looking characters as well as lots of guns and zombies… who doesn’t like guns and zombies? The name ‘Mob of the Dead’ and ‘MotD’ where almost everywhere too. When people see it, it gets stuck in their head. Makes it easy to remember when they see the games name around the place.

  • Video Trailer

I had made my own video trailer… although it wasn’t the best, it was funny and showed some cool clips from the game along with some banging music. This also attracted people who might see the trailer from YouTube to check the game out.

  • Good game description & title.

‘Simulator’ is overplayed and boring, let’s face it. Every other game has ‘simulator’ in it. Come up with a unique title. Also, the games description should be to the point but informative. I personally had a paragraph giving the “You’re trapped in the ruins of Alcatraz----” and finished with the suspenseful “How long will you survive?”. I also had a small update log in it.

  • Overall quality

The map alone took me a good 5 weeks to make. At that time, PointLight’s had just come out too so I was able to use that to my advantage and do some really neat and creepy lighting on the place. Don’t rush your game. I know everyone want’s to come out with a hit front page game but in reality they take months, if not years, of hard work and coordination. Roblox’s quality of games keeps going up, so we developers must also keep up to the competition on the market.

Overall it’s just the genre of the game too. Simulators are becoming very overplayed, they’ve flooded out the market. If you’re doing something like this I would subject changing up the game mechanics and name of the game so it’s less like every other sim. Other then that just work on your thumbnails, video trailers, and game description and hopefully it attracts more people. Best of luck.

I can tell you’re trying to emulate front page simulators, which are quite literally just rooms with doors, with progression based on spending a LOOOONG amount of time in a room before being able to move on.

Your game, however, would take hours to actually play. Speeding up by +1 (the first door requires 20 speed to go through) takes 50 eggs, and it’s a LONG walk to 50 of the things, even if you get speedups over time. There’s no other point to your game, though, at the moment.

I don’t want to hurt your feelings, but there are at least 30-100 games that are exactly this game, but with different skins and things to pick up. I hope you’ll consider doing something else.

The main problem with your game is that there is no main objective. In order for your game to be successful, you need an element that will make the player keep wanting to come back.

If you really want people to play your games, then find a task that is interesting such as the one you already have, then expand upon it. Turn it in to something that people will enjoy playing for hours on end. That is really the only way to get people to keep coming back to your game.

If you are looking to get players to begin with, I would suggest using sponsored games.

The names on the leaderstats only sometimes shows up unless you double click them. Its real weird

I think this game is nice! Definitely a good start. I’m pretty bad coming up with things to improve upon, but yeah, I do like the concept, and it has potential to become quite addicting. I’d recommend adding more sound effects (you might’ve already added some, but my sound was turned off so forgive me lol.) Sound effects draw in gamers and get more tied into what they’re playing. Even the seemingly most useless sound effects in a game could make a difference. Apart from sound, perhaps you could work on the shop, giving users more things to buy and more things to do overall. Stuff like trails would be nice, just ultimately more stuff to give the players more things to do as they play.

Hope this helps, dropped a like on the game. Keep up the good work!
