did you just screenshot my NFT Unicorn pet only 12 in the world? Delete that photo right now.
On a more serious note, this is great.
No idea how they thought this would be a good idea.
Hope full moderator action is taken, no terminations but some 7 day bans.
It seriously cant come to mind “Why dont we break the TOS which has been stated before many past times that you are not in anyway shape or form allowed to have offsite payment methods and or payment in money?”
I think some restrictions should be loosend when it comes to offsite things, maybe a moderator would have to check it out and ONLY for the big developers (i.e DreamCraft owners of adopt me.)
Yes, I got the gist from the comments. Your reply didn’t add any addition to my reply or the original comment, this NFT simply gave a cosmetic, no pay-to-win factor in cosmetics.
The question is though; how good of a compromise would it have to be to be reasonable? It wouldn’t sit well with me if BIG Games just gets a slap on the wrist after making so much money from selling NFTs and including in-game perks with them.
Just thinking of them while talking about this gives me chills. It would probably be even worse if Adopt Me were to get into the NFT craze, due to them being one of the biggest games on the platform.
I feel like actions should be taken to prevent actions from happening like this again,
The developers take advantage of vulnerable children who don’t have fully developed prefrontal cortexes leading them not to be able to make proper decisions on their own,
While I don’t believe Pet Simulator X should be taken off the platform as It has over 1b visits and thousands upon thousands have spent money on the game,
I believe actions should be taken to refund anyone who spent money on those offsite purchases from the actual developers themselves and that new rules should be enforced to prevent the actions of which they did.
This is inaccurate. Yes, most NFT’s do currently have high gas prices(because they are built on the Ethereum blockchain), but the proof of work system used by Ethereum is outdated and set to be replaced with proof of stake which is to a much less detriment on the environment. Proof of work has no place in the future of crypto.
lmao pet simulator got the admins to post an entire dev forum post for them to stop doing that NFT selling cuz they don’t want to ban a 150k+ player game
If the game was small you would’ve taken it down immediately and there would be no such post
Actually the DevEx rate should be buffed because you can do more money with external payments instead of going through DevEx, and that’s one of the reasons why Pet Simulator is going on NFTs.
And, i didn’t looked at the auction page but it’s still possible They uses Polygon Blockchain, where they uses a different consensus mechanisms that don’t require to set up giant farms in North Pole.
Just to share some thoughts I have in mind about this issue.
Sure, developers are allowed to monetize or popularize their experiences in the means of advertising through Roblox’s on-site advertisement methods (ex: Sponsored Experiences etc.), but introducing NFTs to the general audience of Roblox, which is a metaverse site dedicated to the young and developing audience was really uncalled for. Not even going to the point where it harms the environment because of the electricity needed to keep these systems running already.
Most importantly, while it is technically a way to live in our current situation to get the means of money and solve some of our financial problems, we should never resort to such actions to gain revenue. Worst thing of all is that this alone is against the Roblox’s Terms of Service. Popularity of a game doesn’t determine or change the rules of the site. Everyone is entitled to follow them at all cost, regardless.
In my opinion, the game should be taken down if it’s breaking the rules. No matter how big or small your game is, you should abide by the rules and be treated equally.
Roblox should hand out a takedown even if it would cost them revenue from players.
Otherwise this would just show favoritism, putting smaller developers in a serious disadvantage concerning moderation strikes.
Just because you’re the king or president doesn’t give you the right to break the laws.
NTFs connected to Roblox stuff has is againts the TOS and always has been againts the TOS. It is no different than buying Roblox stuff with physical cash.
Expect
This ^^
That’s the only difference.
But that’s not even the point.
The idea of an NTF is already a scam, Roblox simulators are scams.
Soo yeah.
And if you are going to say “but you get the NTF it isnt a scam”, then your standards for a scam are really low.
NFTs do not belong on this platform. Numerous risks (scams, unrelated policies etc) can cause many takedowns for Roblox developers. As it was an out of the box case, I dont think Pet Sim would fall in any sort of direct trouble but games promoting NFTs after their statement, i.e. after the current matter is resolved, could get moderated which is more or less deserved.
