In this document, any and all important information regarding and/or pertaining to campaigning can be found here. In addition, this document will also go over all the necessary rules that all candidates and campaign team/staffers must follow.
Campaigning Rules
It is vital that all candidates running for office, follow all the rules listed below. In the event a candidate refuses to do so, they will be judged by members of the Oversight Committee and will face possible campaign termination.
I. Only official candidates approved by the Oversight Committee may run for their selected office.
II. There will be no slandering or libel of other campaigns in an effort to spread lies and untrue information regarding that candidate.
III. Candidates may only campaign on the Bakiezville City Hall group wall, Bakiez Bakery Cafe, and/or the Bakiez Bakery Community Discord Server. If a candidate or any other individual were to campaign anywhere else, including but not limited to the Bakiez group wall, any other Bakiez public server besides the Community Discord Server, any other Bakiez affiliated group, they will face immediate punishment issued by the Oversight Committee or the Community Moderation Team.

VI. Campaigning may only take place during officially released campaigning periods. Not following this rule will immediate punishment issued by the Oversight Committee or the Community Moderation Team. This includes campaigning for future elections.
VII. Campaigning during a Campaign Registration Period may result in immediate termination of a candidate’s campaign or an immediate community ban issued by a Moderator.
VIII. If a candidate or any member of the community wishes to campaign in an individual’s DMs, they must first get permission from that individual. Failure to do so may result in immediate termination of a candidate’s campaign or an immediate community ban issued by a Moderator.
Campaigning Information
During official campaigning periods, those running for office must use their given time in order to spread information regarding their campaign and their plans for what they will accomplish during their tenure. They must do this in an effort to get their name out to the general public before election night.
Bakiezville citizens and other members apart of the Bakiez community are able to participate in campaigning and help ensure that the candidate they wish to win, is able to do so. However, they must also abide by the campaigning rules as stated above or face punishment.
During the campaigning period, there will be a total of 2 debates. One debate for Mayoral Elections and another debate for City Council Member Elections. During the Midterm campaigning period (when the Mayor is still in office and we are just voting for City Council Members), there will only be one debate.
For Mayorial debates, only the top 5 candidates will be able to qualify for debate while for City Council Member debates, only the top 8 candidates will be able to qualify for debate.
If a candidate does not qualify for debate, it does not necessarily mean they won’t be able to win the election. It simply means that at the time, they did not have as big of a campaign team or support for the office they are running for, as other candidates at the time did.
Debate night dates will be determined by the Oversight Committee and announced in advance.
The Oversight Committee will determine if a candidate qualifies for debate night.
Debate moderators will be determined by the Oversight Committee in advance
Any other questions and/or concerns regarding campaigning, please direct them to a member of the Senior Management Team and they will then forward them to me.
What if I want to end my campaign?
In the unlikely event a candidate wishes to end their campaign for office, they must message a member of the oversight committee a week prior to election night. In this message, they must answer the following questions:
- Why do you wish to end your campaign?
- How was your campaign experience?
- Was it easy or was it hard to campaign?
- How can the Oversight Committee make the campaign experience better and more fun for everyone?
If you know for a fact you are not going to win the office you are running for, save everyone time and do not run. Or if you are certain that you will not get enough votes election night, please drop out of the race and end your campaign.
Not qualifying for debate night should be a huge eye-opener that your chances of winning are low.
