[OGC] February Competition

Welcome to the February competition guide! Olympic Gymnast Competition (OGC) hosts a gymnastic competition once a month. Each gymnast will show their routine for each of the four events, and a judge will score them based on deductions and routine requirements. Any member of OGC is able to compete, as long as you signed up and are scheduled. The following document has rules, information, and the schedule you will need to participate in the competition. Remember to check out this guide as well if you have any questions not answered here.

Competition Rules:

  • Follow all Roblox community guidelines and rules. Everyone is expected to follow Roblox’s community guidelines at all time. Please review Roblox’s rules here.

  • Be a good sport and be respectful. Putting down other gymnasts, teams, or groups is disrespectful. Please be supportive, and don’t talk badly of others. It’s not about winning, it’s about bringing the community together.

  • Arrive on time and be organized. Arriving late for your scheduled time to compete will result in not being able to compete. Make sure you know what time you’re competing and you arrive on time. We cannot allow routine/event redos or start-overs. Remember to convert time zones to EST (Eastern Timezone), which is used on the schedule.

  • If you are not competing, please spectate though the livestream. Spots on the server is reserved for gymnasts scheduled and staff, and it will be a tight squeeze. If you wish to spectate, you can watch through a livestream here.

Competition Schedule:

On the first week of February, gymnasts were able to sign up for the competition. If all signup information was valid and accurate, those gymnasts were scheduled.

There are six competition time sessions throughout the day on Saturday, February 17th. There is a break in the day at 3:00pm EST to allow gymnasts and staff to watch the 5th annual Bloxy awards.

The competition schedule can be found here.

Awards:

All Around Awards: All Around scores are your averages for all events. The bronze, silver, and gold all around placing gymnasts of each level will receive the Gymnast of the Month rank.

Event Awards: Event awards are gymnasts who’ve placed in the top for that certain event. Usually, gymnasts with a score of 10.0 will win an event. These gymnasts will receive the Awarded Gymnast rank.

Team Awards: Based on the average of all the gymnasts representing a team, we will calculate team event and all around awards. We calculate averages, so larger teams do not have an advantage over smaller teams. Minimum of five gymnasts competing for a team is required for these awards.

As well, we have special awards Favorite Leo and Team Spirit. OGC staff will nominate teams to receive these awards.

Gymnast Scenario Example (to better understand what to do on competition day)

  • Jane has signed up correctly and found herself on the Novice schedule for 10:00am EST.

  • Prior to the competition, Jane will practice her four event routines and ensure they meet the Novice routine requirements. As well, she will make sure she’s a member of the OGC group, as the competition will be group only.

  • It is competition day. Around 9:45am EST, she will prepare to join the competition server. Each server on the OGC game will be for a different competition level (there are four). Upon joining a server, the top of the game will say what level it is. She will find the Novice server and wait for the event to start at 10:00am EST.

  • At 10:00am EST, a judge will individually teleport gymnasts on the schedule to watch their event routines. Jane will wait her turn patiently and make sure she doesn’t go AFK (in case she misses her turn). If she does happen to miss an event, she will not be able to re-do it.

  • Jane has completed all four events, and she can leave and spectate on the livestream.

  • The next day (on Sunday), Jane is free to join the game at 12:00pm EST to attend the award ceremony to congratulate gymnasts and teams.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I am not on the schedule, why not?
If you are not on the schedule, it means your signup was invalid. Most commonly, it is from invalid song IDs, multiple signups, and not agreeing to the terms.

  • Why didn’t I get to do one of my routines?
If you did not compete in one of the events, it means you were either AFK, in the wrong server, or out of the game during your call. Due to time constraints and fairness, we cannot have re-dos or have certain gymnasts make up for what they’ve missed.

  • What if I don’t have a team?
Many gymnasts in the OGC competition compete as an individual gymnast. It is essentially the same, but you don’t compete for a certain team or work towards a team award. You may wear whatever leotard or athletic outfit you wish.

  • I have a question and it’s not mentioned here, what should I do?
You should tweet to @RobloxGymnastic (we may not see direct messages, so send a tweet), or ask fellow gymnasts in game or on the group wall, or ask a staff member. We’re happy to help!

Best of luck to everyone competing this month! It’s not about winning, but bringing the community together.
