Open up UGC marketplace to more UGC categories that are currently unavailable and REMOVED from the catalog

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to create & sell UGC Faces accessories, Shoes, Holdable items & Heads

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience because this would improve the experience for many developers and UGC Creators

As many of you know, currently Roblox only allows users to create Heads in a Category called “Dynamic Heads”, holdable/handheld items & shoes as layered clothing.
Many users on Roblox prefer non-dynamic or static heads over Dynamic heads, because most of them are looking too “Cursed” for some people’s taste.

Gears (Holdables):

Currently the only way people can make “holdable” items is by making them a layered clothing.
This is currently a very effective method of allowing users to “hold” swords, plushies, hammers, etc. in-games. However, this also comes with it’s drawbacks, because these being a “Layered Clothing” instead of an accessory “glued to an attachment”, will cause serval issues when wearing this item.

(holding a “holdable” item in r15 Blocky/default)

(holding a “holdable” item in a different bundle)

This is very unfortunate there’s no category for this, because there’s a lot of potential into this category, and we already have the “attachments” needed for this. Discoverability for this is also hard because people would look in the “Gears” section for handheld/holdable items.

A good example for this, is the overseer teddy item, which is attached to “RightGripAttachment”

Shoes:

At the moment, creators can’t create “Shoes” accessories in the specific category, and can only be made by making layered clothing. It would be nice to have the ability to create shoes bundles or just standalone shoes, and having them in their own category.

Eyebrows:

Currently, we can only sell eyebrows accessories bundled together with Dynamic heads, however this doesn’t allow customization whatsoever, and can only be worn with the specific head. Would be nice to be released as a standalone “Category” and be able to be individually worn through the avatar page.

2D Faces:

Would be nice if WE as creators could be allowed to make 2D Faces & Static heads that can be RECOLORED.
Right now, the only way to create 2D Faces, is by making a face as an accessory, which is very inconvenient for both the creator and the user.

  • Users can’t recolor this in their desired color
  • Users have to sepnd robux for each recolor they want
  • Creators have to spend 750 robux for each upload
  • Creators have to spend more time to color the accessory in each desired color to have it uploaded into the catalog (There’s currently 75 available body parts colors, this means we would need to create 75 recolors and pay to upload 75 recolors)

This would make it easier for 2D artists not to have to deal with the 3D accessory uploads, and would allow users to express themselves even more.

Static Heads:

Static heads would also be a needed addition into the catalog, many users would prefer to make custom shapes for their heads to mix and match with 2D faces. Currently this is impossible to do, and players are basically forced to upload their heads as Dynamic Heads but in a static variant just to be able to make recolorable heads.

I noticed there’s a very big increase of deleted “Static” dynamic heads, which is honestly very disappointing to see, because many people used those because they have no other alternative.

Without such UGC categories, there SHOULD NOT be a rule for UGC creators to not upload static heads as Dynamic heads, because around march, when the miscategorization update was re-intrdouced, all creators were promised that we will be able to upload those items in categories that don’t have a better alternative. There’s currently no better alternative for static heads and 2D faces…

Conclusion:

I’m not sure why there’s currently no UGC category for these types of items!
I understand roblox is trying to move on from 2D heads, but forcing players upon this, is a very bad way to introduce this feature, and would make people hate this feature.
Please allow people to make static heads and 2D faces as UGC categories, and possibly in the future release the “Holdables” or gears category into the UGC.
Shoes shouldn’t be sold under the “Skirts” or “Pants” category, because this would be harder for new people to discover these items in their respective category. If I want to look for “High heel shoes” in the shoes category, I will only see pre-made accessories, created by roblox, instead of discovering everything that the creators had to make.

Allow people to bundle Dynamic heads with heads & 2D faces into a “Bundle” so players can choose whichever they prefer.

There’s tons of creators out there that would love to showcase & sell their creations by making gears, shoes, 2D faces, Static heads compatible with faces & body colors, etc. All of this is limited because of what are creators able to upload into the UGC marketplace.

This would be a very welcome and highly loved update by many users on Roblox, by not only opening a big door to 2D face artists, but also giving a market to people who are looking to buy these sort of items.

I think personally for me the shoes would be one of the ones I am questioning the most, why make shoes yourself as roblox, a shoes marketplace category and have foot attachments as a thing but not let us have the ability to make shoes. I can understand roblox not implementing holdables as I imagine people would use it to make 1:1 limited gears which would push already sucky moderation, but the shoes part is puzzling. I already have some ugc on the backburner in the case that roblox lets us make shoes, so that would be exciting.

  1. For easy to make holdables, roblox would have to add 2 more attachment points on the existing r15 rig. + accuracy for “holdable” layered clothing items on other bundles is up to the creators of the other bundles and how accurate their cage mesh is. Holdable items already exist for standard avatars because of layered clothing.
  2. Nobody is buying shoes
  3. Not enough differentiation between eyebrows for there to be a specific category for them (most eyebrows look the exact same)
  4. You can already make 2D faces
  5. It is possible to make a static head
  1. The accuracy on the handheld items, doesn’t depend on the creator. The way people make them, makes it impossible to properly fit all bundles.
  2. There’s a lot of people who are buying shoes, they just buy layered clothing shoes because no other alternative exist. A lot of people use shoes combined with bundles such as the chibi doll or 3.0 woman body
  3. This is kinda true, but would make no sense for eyebrows to be it’s own type of accessory if it’s only supposed to go with a certain head, I know a few folks which would enjoy having a way to change eyeborws
  4. You can’t make 2D faces, the only way to do that is by Miscategorizing them as “Face Accessories”
  5. You can’t make static heads, you can only make dynamic heads, and make them be “static” by having simialr FACs poses, which is also miscategorizing a static head into a dynamic head.

None of these are convenient, everything has it’s downs. these problems would be fixed if Roblox opened these features to UGC.

Both handheld and shoe items already have working attachments, there’s just no way to publish items under these categories.

  • Shoes would use the “FootAttachment”
  • Handheld items would use “GripAttachment” similar to the overseer teddy bear

Personally, more of these accessory welds would help with creating accessories in places such as around wrists (lower arm weld for wristbands, chains, watches, etc) legs and feet (for shoes and socks, and leg chains/bands) hands (for handheld accessories, since we all know gears are not used for ANYTHING anymore)

These additional accessory welds would help R6 Focused UGC creators for creating items that work with that style, Because a majority of players on the platform still love R6. on top of that, these additional accessory slots would also help r15/3.0 avatars to get more items and love as well.
