dude they need to regulate it somehow
To clarify Iām talking about other brands not just music labels.
Mixed bag update in my opinion.
Good part is that most people interested in this will actually upload good items, bad part is that thereās a small percentage that will use this to upload IP items, especially Roblox limited copies.
(explanation on why limited copy creators are abundant below)
P.S. Before anyone says that āeveryone interested in this will upload copiesā, Roblox specifically markets items that have a lot of sales and that you are interested in and the limited copies have a lot of sales, which causes Roblox to market them especially if youāve clicked on one before. This creates an artificial, inflated belief that most UGC are limited copies, even though in one week only around 5-10 items out of hundreds of regular UGC items are limited copies, and only a couple make it past moderation. However there are still spam UGCs that are pretty bizarre.
There will be changes soon, but still.
This is NOT a good idea to have 5-10x the cost of a single copy for a single free item.
Why yall keep yapping about Roblox Catalog is going to chaotic and many problems, If Public UGC is already out? I just checked from Rolimons notification and I havenāt seen a single one of ripoff Roblox Limited Item
Well guess what?
I want you to go into the catalog and look up the words, āDominusā and āValkyrieā and I want you to report back on how many knockoffs you find.
It is chaotic, as it ruins many creatorās livelihoods to even make UGC, heck, some of my friends quit and now they are scrambling for jobs. Itās terrible once you see the bigger picture.
I have seen at least 3 bypasses.
multiple stolen or copied assets
and just poorly made items like thisā¦
How much would it cost in total to upload a back accessory free ugc limited with 7 copies?
I would say this is a W if you all fix these:
- Actually protecting the creators from false reports, I have seen so many talented creators getting their items taken down even after years of being approved.
- Have actual human moderators to do the moderating than your current AI system, itās so clear that it doesnāt even work as intended considering how many knockoffs and 1:1 copy of the current limiteds are still flooding the market these days.
- Let creators archive old assets that can put their account at risk of termination.
I get that the pricing and requirements are intended to prevent what I mentioned in my second point but even before this was released, people have already been uploading a bunch of that to the point I keep seeing it recommended on my marketplace.
Another day and another instance of Roblox Corporation taking one step forward after leaping backwards. I couldnāt care less if UGC was freely opened up to anyone with an internet-accessible microwave; but the catalog (I refuse to call it the āmarketplaceā) quality control/moderation is completely nonexistent. At this point, I would rather close UGC off to the strict application process it used to be. Bootleg limiteds and IP-infringing content is already a big problem, and this change only allows for more and worse.
If you believe an item is too close to a roblox made item, report it to roblox.
If an item is low quality then it will fail to sell many copies and its creator wonāt have enough robux to upload more. This is a non issue
Itās still unnecessary bloat in the catalogā¦
I donāt want to see 50 reuploads of the default blender sphere flooding the page
Donāt underestimate the power of people throwing Robux away. They buy anything!
I genuinely donāt care if people rip off Roblox. This is the real problem.
And letās be clear here; while it is the job of the IP holders to contact Roblox to have them removed, Roblox themselves have an obligation to deny these to begin with, and not have them approved and uploaded when itās clear to even children that these are all popular brands.
I didnāt think it would be that bad. I tried to keep positive, but it hasnāt even been a day into this update and I can safely say itās a disaster. Thereās been suggestive items uploaded, bypassed meshes, copied and stolen items, and everything in-between
In addition, the higher fees have greatly dissuaded me and many other creators from uploading, and as a result weāre losing earnings. Ironically, despite making the catalog āmore free and openā this may be the one of the most anti-creator updates roblox has ever pushed out.
Do not forget to include - Knockoffs of real roblox items/faces!
And possibly moreā¦
Marketplace - The place for frauds!
Iām SO excited for this change! Canāt wait for the catalog to go back to 2018 style, full of spam and inappropriate items!
They arenāt allowed to deny them; they have to assume everyone is uploading IP that they have the rights to, thats how DMCA safe harbor laws work.
