In my game, I wanted to introduce player-created mods in my game. There are few game modes, most of are going to support mods to introduce more items and gameplay changes. If modders wanted to share their mods in the main game, they need to be approved to avoid any malicious, inappropriate or infringing mods. I am going to offer a limited uncopylocked place where there’s enough resources to test mods.
Do you guys think this is a good idea, and if so, how should I get it to work?
I think its a pretty awesome idea. Gmod is a game on steam that has a similar idea behind it, and the community created game modes have kept the game popular for many years now. However since Roblox isn’t going to operate the same (in terms of uploading mods and putting them into your game/gamemode), fostering a modding community is going to be harder. What I would recommend is that you can create a system for developers to submit their mods as models to you through something like a Roblox group or discord, and you and/or a team can go through them and pick the good ones to put in your game. You can make them accessible in game by using a GUI that when a mod is clicked, it pulls the model/script/ect that stores the mod from somewhere like server storage, and lets the player put it in the gameworld.
If you wanted something like this it would be much better to create a mod making system in game then get people to use uncopylocked games and go on studio this way your game would have a wider audience as you could have Mobile and Xbox players get the studio experience.
instead of a mod type of game since mods aren’t possible on roblox just make it a sandbox type like Gmod. It’s an amazing idea and would love to see it on roblox.
