I don’t think you can export anything. It’s just you and the tools of roblox studio.
Nope you can’t unless you change he day of lighting but it just changes the look. The reason you can’t do this is it would be from an external source or the toolbox.
We aren’t allowed to use plugins that change our builds so this would have to be a no.
Nope there isn’t really a true prize but there sorta is it is recognition because people will remember you for winning this challenge. (Unless they didn’t announce the official prize yet)
Cool idea, however with the restrictions it’s kinda hard to do curtain things. As for low poly, does it mean it has to look low poly or can one put lots of ”high level” details in.
In some ways I feel the no plugins etc kinda forces a builder to build how they may not be used too. And or workflow.
I’m a builder but I go the more higher detail/realistic like route when building, low poly is something I just can’t get myself to do, as I am a creative person, and always goes to detailing even when I don’t have a good full build plan, it’s something I’m working on so I can actually finish something for once.
Just a question will there be more in the future that will be a bit more open as to what one can do?
Maybe do a scripting challenge soon? I’d love to see what people could program!
If we cannot use external assets from the toolbox or other previous games, then how are we supposed to use effects like the skybox?
Well you can use lighting ambient, fog, time of day, color correction, sun rays, etc.
Woah!.. This is pretty cool where do we sign up, also do we need a formal portfolio?
To sign up you just start building now or soon and then they will start taking submissions in august and I don’t believe you need a portfolio but if I’m wrong please correct me on that.
It says you cannot use plugins.
Big oof well I’m not going to enter for various clear reasons lol.
Really great opportunity to get the recognition from others, to show off your development skills. Very strict, but at the same time very interesting. I’m in!
Just a couple quicky questions:
- Anyone may submit a submission whether or not they present themselves as a Builder, correct?
- There are a couple references involving issues faced during this challenge, with one of the Judging Criteria being “Creative solutions to limitations within the engine”, does this mean we should track all issues faced and how we did or did not achieve a solution before submitting?
- Based on the Studio-only nature of the challenge, I assume the use of Decals and Sounds are impossible. I believe there is no possible way to obtain a decal/sound that involves 0 external software, also invalidating a Roblox features of SoundEffects.
- Lastly, is Smooth Terrain considered a valid lowpoly terrain for the contest?
I am a beginner at building but I think i will try this, I think this will be good to practice can’t wait!
Yep anyone can submit a game when submissions start.
I’m almost sure that means everything was build/made within RobloxStudio engine.
Decals/Sounds are indeed impossible and for that reason I am sure that we don’t need them.
I believe so because they do state that you should use terrain to make your build come to life.
No, what they mean is that the game can’t depend on plugins to run, I’m pretty sure they mean that. As they say it cannot require plugins to function
It says it cannot require plugins to function, never says you cannot use plugins.
Not yet, submissions will begin in August.
I just got in contact with other Developer Forum members and they have informed me that we aren’t aloud to use plugins, but you can do what you want in the long run if i’m being honest but it may lead to disqualification.
