Yes exactly It’s not hard to understand at all it’s right in front of you no plug-ins are allowed.
It’ll all be up to parts and unions, I assume. What I see people doing is beveling unions with negates from a part, I think that Roblox really meant it to be low poly for this reason, something difficult that requires people to think and to actually put a lot of effort into it coming up with original ideas to loophole the limitations of studio—after all everything is really possible if you have both the time and motivation to do it, even with…parts…
Now when I think about it I think the restrictions are pretty Unfair because you can make beautiful things using Roblox tools but it will make it more dreadful and frustrating and not using External Software is pretty weird that you cant use Softwares like Blender, it makes Maps 100 times better and easier. And not using Textures will also be a problem for most builders.
Avatar evolution is not only a beta feature but requires meshes and textures, which the rules aren’t really allowing, so even if it wasn’t a beta feature it wouldn’t be allowed unless you work with preset roblox textures.
I doubt this will be a requirement, but I can’t really think of something else to verify the builds unless they some kind of magician like program.
The purpose of the competition is not to have people make maps as they usually do, but to make them get out of their comfort zone and be creative, but that’s just my two cents on it.
Atleast you understand it alot better then others.
That’s the point of the challenge, after all it is a challenge for builders, if it were not a challenge and it were to be a cakewalk it would just be a prompt event…
If @WoodReviewer Isn’t A judge then Roblox is officially a noob.
On a separate on-topic note are there any rewards involved? I’m not doing it either way… I’m not exactly good at building.
Thanks, Bacon
No but in my opinion its all about practice but there is sorta a reward and that reward is exposure.
Are we allowed to use images/sounds found within Roblox’s local client files? Such as:
rbxasset://textures/particles/SquareParticle.png
rbxasset://sounds/bass.mp3
As long as they’re inside studio then I assume we can!
Not sure, but I was thinking about doing the same thing!
What does this mean actually? O_O
it essentially means that you can’t use any plugins that affect your build or change the looks of it for example F3X building.
So basically this means, this is a no plugin challenge. N I C E.
this ain’t gonna be easy but I’ll try
Yep technically a lot of people don’t like it but its a challenge after all so may the best builder win!
I’m pretty sure that the purpose of the challenge is to get conclusive feedback on ROBLOX Studio’s building capabilities, which aren’t very precise, to be honest. (Not to say that you can’t make good models from within Studio). I hope that this challenge can bring about some much-needed upgrades to Studio’s building tools! Builders shouldn’t have to use plugins and external software for basic builds; such functions should come with Studio!
Actually before people conclude this is a no plugin challenge if you think about it, building plugins are not “required” for games “to function”.
Maybe this is quite seriously saying that your game shouldn’t be requiring plugins/tools for it to function.
I’ve never thought of associating build plugins with the words “required” and “to function” until this thread and I still think it would be quite bizarre.
Are you saying that we can use build plugins or no because I will answer with a reply I sent earlier today if you are saying that we are allowed to use them.
I would like to say yes. Also before you answer with a reply from earlier please read my points below as to why I think this*
If they said that you can’t use plugins that modify your studio they would clearly say “No plugins.”
In other bullet points they are a lot more clear on whether or not you can use something/cannot use something. For example, “Must use built-in materials to create flat material appearance” means you have to use the materials provided by roblox (not your own textures to simulate those materials). Also, “No Licensed Content” and “No External Software” very clearly state that you cannot use the following things.
In addition to the “No assets from the toolbox” and “No assets from previous games/showcases,” I would like to think that all of these statements are deliberate in how they are communicated.
If they can come up with logically and grammatically sound statements in other instances (the ones I listed above), I would like to think that if they clearly wanted us to not use plugins, they would have said something like “No use of plugins,” “No plugins,” “No use of plugins from others.”
To be blunt, a plugin isn’t an asset to your game unless it quite literally becomes part of your game.
Assets made by plugins are not the same as having plugins be part of your game. It’s like how you’re technically not part of your game despite you being the all-powerful external force that enacts change upon your game – not unless you explicitly put your player in, which would be a different case altogether anyways.
