I clarified in my post that I do not think plugins that include unoriginal user-generated content such as waterfall plugin should be used.

However, I do not think plugins such as SBS, F3X, Atrazine’s Terrain v2, Brush Tool, etc. include unoriginal user-generated content. They generate pre-existing content that was already provided in studio and therefore is not content that cannot be used. Now if we go into plugins themselves being created by others that’s a whole other debate. That would then bring up the question if users can create their own plugins to aid during this contest. As well as if a plugin is only using what studio provides but in a more accessible way, why should it not be allowed?

I do agree that it would be fantastic to have a follow-up post with clarification. I think this is a great community opportunity that had poor execution in announcement.

I had read this a while ago, only to come back to it with a thought: What do you mean by “no gameplay” in restrictions?

Does this mean we cannot play test our game? Does this mean it has to be un-playable? Does this mean we have to send studio screenshots for submissions?

Lot’s of people already pointed this out, and I’m glad you guys did, plugins like F3X saves time rather than trying your best so hard and rotate that one part is very painful.

I’m really, really excited to see this happen. As an avid fan of the blocky, “classic” Roblox build style, I hope to see a LOT of that old Roblox aesthetic(updated with modern lighting too probably) come out from being limited to using only Roblox Studio by itself.

Now I’m not hating on the modern/cartoony, “wow am I still in Roblox” look, or the detailed-to-the-bone showcases around, but I can’t help but keep looking for that “classic Roblox” feel that I’m used to: the maps from Paintball! by daxter33 (and Artuha00, Pennyz, finwei), Vidre Cova by Anaminus, the Stratosphere Settlement by EBR, even the original Survival 303 by davidii counts lol. There’s a specific… feel to them that I’m not sure how to describe.

Maybe it’s the CFramed cube trees. Or the creatively aligned edges (because we didn’t really have the plugins to create properly aligned edges) using parts that were restricted to integral stud sizes or whatever FormFactor was used. It could be the mix of using Universal, Studs, Inlets, and Weld surfaces for texture on Plastic, with some Grass or Slate mixed in.

I might rag on the ones complaining about plugins not being allowed here, but I really do think that’s the point. Besides showcasing how far native Roblox Studio tools have come, I believe creativity is all about working with what tools you have and guess what, being “creative” with them to produce results that work (not necessarily being the results you expected :wink:). I’m sure those who fiddled with the old tape-measure “CFrame” tool in Build Mode know what I’m talking about.

Let’s see how many Roblox boomers come out of hiding with their CTRL+1,2,3,C,V to go against the ones who grew up with F3X… this is gonna be fun.

I just finished my build for this challenge, I can’t wait to submit it!

The only thing I didn’t really like about this challenge though is that the materials have to look flat. I personally think my build looks better with grass, slate, and wood instead of just smooth plastic.
