As I been on the roblox platform I know that having to change your name on roblox is supposed to be 1k robux, some people aren’t really having that much robux to afford that, saying as new roblox users or users that have been on the platform for 1 month & still not having enough robux to change there name.
As you can see from this image for a example I have 3 robux rn & I need 997 more robux to have 1k.
I would like to suggest a amount of 500 or 800 robux to change there name.
It would be great if this feature was added to roblox, if it can’t be I understand, letting this be a small amount of people to afford a new username will be really great so it doesn’t cause any problems from others.
I can see your point of view and I think this is a good enough website feature request, but from my perspective, changing your name for 1,000 robux is not a bad deal at all.
Roblox likely does not want a massive amount of users to change their usernames. If your account is very new you could easily create a new account and pick a new username. If you are a premium user or have been around long enough to interact with the economy, coming up with 1,000 robux is not hard.
Well I get your point but when new roblox users join the platform they start off of playing games & learning to develop so I can see why you said 1k robux isnt a bad deal, I agree but not alot of people are gonna have that much to change there name, so that’s why I wanted people to see this.
I believe 1K is a perfectly fine number. How ever I do believe rather than changing the price of changing you username. Instead make it 1K = 10 USD. This way every 10 Robux is one cent and it’s a little easier to manage rather than 7 → 1 (example). But I believe 1K should stand and they should rather change the 10 USD amount.
This is a cool idea however there’s much more behind it than just making it cheaper.
You should choose a username that you would wish to keep. Changing your username should only ever be last resort. It isn’t intended to be used regularly/by everyone.
It’s only intended to be used if you really feel discouraged by your current username.
The reason behind this is to discourage unlawful/troll usernames. Every time you change your username, you lose 1,000 robux. It also stops larger amounts of usernames being taken and used by people already within the roblox community which could have been used by a someone at the sign up page.
Unlike other social media platforms, Instagram for example, when you change your Roblox name, your old name is locked up from others’ use so you can always go back to it. Fighting against a hyper-inflation of taken names is likely why it costs 1k to change. Though it is interesting, people can create new accounts on the same email. There may be something else to dis-incentiving name changes. Maybe building brand identity on the platform?
Roblox has explained in previous RDC’s that they want to lower costs of developers, badges, audio for example. However, name change is likely not one they had in mind. (this is my opinion)
I think that the biggest percentage of usernames is claimed by inactive and terminated accounts… Maybe less than 5% of the usernames is claimed by people who changed their username.
