A few weeks ago I started work on a Plants Vs Zombies type game as a challenge to practice and get better at modelling and coding. This is the progress so far;

this is a game i grew up with and this really brought some memories really hope you go on with this project and release a proper polished game would love to see my childhood game made into roblox properly. As For Feedback maybe the animations of peeshooter idling should be more happy rather than simply going back and forth maybe like a bit left and right i dont really know how to explain but make it more ‘Happy’

Thanks for the feedback! The peashooter animation is the one animation I definetly want to working on changing, however I wanted to get work done on the sunflower first. Thanks for the feedback!

That’s one of my main concerns; I’m hoping to get around it by using other names; the game itself won’t be called “Plants Vs Zombies”, and I don’t plan on directly using any names like “Peashooter”, instead ill use something like “Grapeshooter”, so im hoping that it will pass. I will have to be 100% sure though before I publish the game

Very nice. The face of the sunflower looks a bit weird but other than that this looks cool. However, be careful of copyright.

Sunflower face is temporary, just drew it in ms.paint really fast so I could have at least a guide, thanks for the feedback !!

PLEASE tell me when you finish the game as I would like to play it. The game looks great so far.

Will the camera be fixed like it is in the original game or would it be set to where you can walk around and view the fight similar to a tower defense Roblox game?

I’m thinking of incorporating both, as in toggleable between the 2 views. I love the 2.5D PvZ1 style, but I also really like the Tower Defense style on roblox. I’ll tell you when it releases!

The game looks really good, but I advise that you switch up the style before it is too late.
If your game is successful, it is highly likely that it will be taken down. My passion project for the last two years was called Plants Vs Zombies Tycoon, it became very popular and it was taken down just two months ago.

More Progress! I am experimenting with animations in the viewports, however I will probally remove it for the time being until it looks good. (I’ll probally add a custom animation for each so its not just repeating the normal Idle)


Ice Pea is also added! I have started work on a gatling + fire pea as well, however those will probally not be added for a while. I also added a cancel placement button, although it won’t be shown until tomorrows log.

Working on Sunflower!

I went at Sunflower multiple ways. Originally it was going to be automatic, but it didn’t really flow well and didn’t stick true to the games. I eventually looked into bezier curves which allowed me to create a design that had a good mix of accessibility and staying true to the original

I plan on switching the style before the launch; For convience terms during development I’m calling them by their actual names in the game, but when the game launches it will not use any names like “Peashooter” or “Plants Vs Zombies”. The actual name of the game will be “Garden Defense” or something like that

my friend is crazy about plants vs zombies and always complains the lack of decent remakes in Roblox. He also LOVES the zombie vs zombie mode, so maybe you can add that as a feature or something :sunglasses: . (Just a suggestion lol)
