Play and Play Here taking an unusually long time

Since Studio version 0.614.0.6140412, Play and Play Here is taking an abnormally long time to load and often failing to do so even if used in an empty baseplate, preventing me from being able to easily test things. I’ve also noticed that after this update, Studio is insisting on showing the Toolbox and Terrain Editor when opening a place, which is quite annoying if you tend to hop from one place to another. Here is a video I’ve recorded that showcase the issue:

Oddly enough, using Run seems to still work as expected. Loading times when using Play or Play Here before this update were consistently near-instantaneous

System Info

Windows 11 Home 23H2 Build 22631.3235

I managed to find what’s causing this problem: Incoming Replication Lag keeps being set to 10 whenever I start or restart Studio. I don’t have any plugins installed that are modifying this setting, so I’m unsure as to what’s causing this to happen and it’s true that it has only started happening to me since the most recent update (Although I strongly suspect it’s related to this release note: Release Notes for 613 | Documentation - Roblox Creator Hub)

A workaround is to remember to set the value to 0 when starting Studio and choose Restart Later, then continue to use Studio as normal

Edit: This issue is still unfortunately present in the latest Studio version 0.616.0.6160659

Have you tried enabling this beta feature from roblox studio? Because these times my studio was entering something like 30 seconds. But with this option i can enter the game between(8/15) seconds.

tried without the faster play solo feature and it entered too long than i expected

I have all beta features enabled (Coincidentally I checked them yesterday, so I’m certain that they are)

I still appreciate your suggestion though, so thank you

this worked for me and made my studio game launch faster even with all of my scripts running in the background very nice vouch this user!

Thanks for the report! I filed a ticket in our internal database and we’ll follow up when we have an update for you.

That doesn’t seem great. A couple questions:

  • Have you ever used the Incoming Replication Lag setting before?
  • If you open up %LocalAppData%/Roblox/GlobalSettings_13.xml what is the value of <double name="IncomingReplicationLag"> ?
    • Also it might be worth checking if the file is Read-only, you can validate this by right clicking the file → properties and checking if the Read-only attribute is checked at the bottom of the file.
    • If the value is 10 in the file, does resetting it to 0 make the setting stick?

  • I have used it before, but I always set it back to 0 when done testing
  • The value of <double name="IncomingReplicationLag"> is 10
    • GlobalSettings_13.xml is not set as Read-only
    • Setting the value to 0 has fixed the problem, the setting now sticks even after restarting my PC

Thank you so much for your help, I appreciate it very much!:+1:
