Support, I would use this a lot.

This sounds like the best solution imo. I wouldn’t mind an official plugin though.

Fully support!

Absolutely support.

It would probably be cleaner to move the option off the website and into the StarterPlayer properties, along with the avatar scaling options (Seriously why are those options even on the website to begin with?). But fully support being able to quickly and easily test between the different rigs in some form or another.

Well, maybe it’s because of user universes.
Player won’t have to edit those manually every time a place gets created.
But yeah, It should be optional to use website.

What if options got remade?

  • Use place settings (default option)
  • R6, R15, Both (for universe games)

I’d like to bump this thread with my support as this as being able to run a test server of your place with both R6 and R15 is very important.

I might even add that it would be nice to have a “Both” option for servers with more than 2 players so you could test both R6 and R15 at once. I think it would work fine if it just picked a random type to start with and then alternated so you ended up with roughly even amounts of R6 and R15 but would also ensure that two player test servers were guaranteed to have one of each type.

Support!

This feature has been added to studio for a while. No need to support this thread.

Lock would be welcome.

I can’t find the feature; where is it?

Game Settings > Avatar has all the avatar-related settings including rig type selection.

It says “Publishing the game to Roblox is required” but that’s not actually true, it’ll work without publishing too.

It was fun and games until…

Is this some kind of a joke?

Agree. I’m trying to scale R6 characters, but I can’t find any way to spawn as a fully functional R6 character without publishing my game. My character is set to R6, but I spawn in as R15. Not very cool.

Yeah, I’m going to have to pitch in support for this. As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to test in Play Solo mode with the R6 rig if you do not publish. I should not be forced to use R15 and I should not have my options stripped from me as unfortunately shown a bit above.

This is an utterly sad workflow of needing to publish to be able to test R6 rigs. The option was available before and then it was suddenly ripped away. Just make the options that can’t be used without publishing unable to be set and allow the ability to modify other game settings.

I can just start a Local Server but Play Solo testing is far more convenient when I don’t need to simulate multiple clients at one time.

3 years later and it is still in the same state. How hard is it to just let us alter setting of local files without having to resort to hacky methods and scripts? In an ideal world things like RigType should be able to be set in studio in the properties of StarterPlayer.

Like @Almonty7655 mentioned, we’re still needing this feature. It’s one of those issues that can be worked around but you can’t help but ask yourself, “Why is this a problem in the first place?”

Please consider adding unpublished place support for this feature so we don’t have to circumvent the restriction.

Yeah I totally support this feature.
I almost only use R6 in testing actually but I like how R15 looks on my profile so I have it like that.
